weird behavior when shooting ships on foot.
So I saw some random spaceships stuck flying into a wall and I wanted to see if I could shoot them with my multitool. Well the ai decided to change direction in response and then dive bomb me but strangely no damage from their shots just explosions on the ground around me.

The game is really not designed for land to air sorts of conflicts. It only works if they are on the ground and you are on the ground, or they are in the air and you are in the air.

I have had pirates come after me when I am on foot, but being a coward I never stuck around to find out what would happen if I just stood there. Instead I just dug a tunnel away from them.

I've also (annoyingly 'till I discovered pvp was a thing) had someone attack me from their own ship when I was on foot. This was right when I 1st started the game so I'm surprised that the pirates didn't do any damage. That said they don't damage anything when shooting up a building. I guess they subscribed to the Hollywood bad guy school of shooting. No-one can aim straight there either!

I usually adopt the "Piss off, I'm busy" attitude towards pirates, but in a couple instances I've had them chase me 1000u+ away from whatever POI they were attacking. Didn't even matter if I tunneled deep, I was still getting shot & heavily damaged. Had to waste 10 minutes getting back to my ship to blow up one of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to make it stop.

yes, if you shoot NPC ships flying over, they will turn and attack you back... i mean, you started it by shooting them first, right? :steamhappy::steamhappy::steammocking:

I meant it's strange that they can't hurt me.

ahhhh... when i've done this, i figured it was because i was moving and they were too slow to actually hit me... in any case, they eventually will give up if you run or hide... i've been known to jump in a body of water and sit on the bottom waiting them out :steamhappy:
