Free Trial vs. Full Game

Is there a list of features that aren't available to the Free Trial anywhere? The way the Omega announcement made it sounds, you can just play the game for free now. Is there a time limit on the Free Trial or can you just play indefinitely?

Trying to get people to play with a half-baked trial might be difficult, but if there's a list of features that aren't available until you buy the game, I can easily tell them "Yeah, that doesn't matter - you don't do that until later in the game anyway", or if it's a time limited trial (we only play together once a week), it might be harder to convince them to give it a shot. With no information, I can't prepare them for anything.

AFAIK the only thing you can do in the free trial, at this time, is the Expedition... whatever it allows to be done is all you get at this point... i think... i'm fixing to fire it (the latest update) up for the first time, myself...

Expedition has no limits, trial has a time limit, cbf finding it but it was written down in the announcement.

After you complete the expedition, it should convert to a normal game. You will miss out on the tutorial, some early grind (expedition gives you a lot of stuff quickly), and the opportunity to run a survival/permadeath game (two accomplishments). Otherwise, all aspects of the game should be available to you until 18:00 GMT on Monday.

And yet it doesn't - due to the COMMUNITY based milestones. Stays in Expedition mode.

It has also been reported that the ONLY game mode allowed in the TRIAL is the Omega Expedition. All other modes are grayed out.

That's why they said, enjoy the expedition as your free trial. NMS to my knowledge has never ever done a free trial. This is their offering. Enjoy!

Would wish they would unlocked the Normal Game mode to give new players a chance to understand the mechanics instead of throwing them out in expedition which skips over the majority of that. makes the experience more of a grind.

The expedition is on for 5 weeks. Only the experimental version was one week.

So, they put out a video that has a "You can play for free!" with no caveats, but the reality is "You can play in this very narrow 'demo' scenario"

The tutorial for this expedition is better than any other expedition I have played before. I am very happy with it.

Other than steps updating slowly sometimes.

Lol, wots the downer, you was never gonna get very far in the non-expedition mode in just the weekend, and if you run the expedition and complete it and then just continue on from there, won't be much difference given the timeframe

The only part that isn't in the demo/expedition is the Atlas/Atremis paths on the main story. Everything else from the previous 25 free updates is available in expeditions. That's about 98% the complete game when most demo's are ~5-10%.

There's a solid 50-100 hours of content available for the 3 days you can play it.
