Oldest planet or system you've found?
I've started another, new game slot since it's been so long since I played the opening 'quests'. I started noting a whole lot of systems/planets are already owned in the standard scenario I'm playing. It got me thinking...

The oldest "discovered by" I've seen randomly, that is, without using any glyphs or such, is about four, maybe five years old.

What's the oldest you've seen?

I've seen several that were older than the game itself. 10+ years.

Hmm... that's strange. Could it be from the devs themselves ?
I've seen several at 9 years old. (Just in the past week.)
Found several in the past that were discovered 10 yrs ago by - wait for it - myself, when I didn't even own the game or knew it existed. Sigh. HG spaghetti code strikes again.

A past Iteration. You've forgotten who you are.

I've noticed a date of 11 years on some systems in the discovery lists. The game was being developed a few years before release in 2016.

I have about 20 to 30 Discoveries of systems found my ME 10 years ago. I started 1st December 2016 but maybe the game is rounding years up using some weird maths. YouTube shows some videos published 367 days ago as being 2 years ago, same sort of thing. I have never been able to find any of the systems shown as discovered by me 10 years ago so bug maybe?

Otherwise quite a few at 9 years ago by various players.

Funniest was the usual string of systems discovered by me 2 weeks ago with 1 in the middle of the list found by someone else 2 weeks ago, we must have passed each other.

PS Sorry, I ramble.

The best way to find such systems - is fly around the center. On top of this there is a circle about 700k ly away from the center, where all players do spawn. More than that if you do tons of attempts to start the game, you may spawn at these systems.

This circle is placed strictly horizontally - to get at this altitude on galaxy map you just have to pass regular "black hole" as it now designed to throw players exactly at this horizontal line.

As I recall I have found systems discovered at 2016. And I have no doubt that somebody was able to pass incorrect data to HG servers, as they do not follow the doctrine of secure programming. I would say they follow a doctrine - the simplier the better, which leads to bugs, overflows, etc. This is not blaming, for a small team it's okay.

I've seen plenty around ten years. Although most of the time it's 3-5 years.
I only see such at the start of a new game tho, if the game decided to dump me into an area with a lot of already discovered systems. Before long I then zoom away to find unexplored reaches and never see any more discovereds again in that save. eg, I have seen a lot of them, but only because I start new games a lot.
I took this shot, just before my very first galaxy change in the game. So it is a Euclid System and even gives the discoverer and date 11/2016. It would be interesting to find it and see if the data is still right.

I have a main base on a planet in a system I found in 2017 - I am sure the planets were different. I built the base in 2022 or 2023 after coming back to the game after a number of years and that was the system I last saved in from back then. It's not in Euclid though, I had gone through a few galaxies at the time.
