Loot Totals From 50 Derelict Freighters
Started an abandoned mode save recently and with no quests decided to hightail it to the center of the galaxy. On the way stopped at every space station to loot the 3 yellow boxes [will sum up that loot at end] always there, which eventually gave 50+ Emergency Signal Scanners. So figured I'd use the opportunity to do a survey on derelict freighter loot.

*Didn't tally raw units [comingling issues, plus doesn't seem like much from containers], nanites, sodium, oxygen, ammo, slime, unstable gel, or freighter decorations.

**Methodology was only yellow star systems; one freighter per system; and alternating between the vanished "owners", so Vy'keen-Korvax-Gek repeated [didn't notice any significant freighter upgrade difference w/races though].

Did my best to loot every single container. After the first freighter, ignored all the little info cards strewn around, because it would've taken twice as long to wait through all that text, plus in abandoned mode there's no one to sell or get rep from the logs. And I've already read all the varieties of catastrophe. The end console doesn't need anything to work.

So, the numbers...

---From Freighter Tech Console---

6 Starship Reactor Cores--2 A-class; 4 C-class
44 freighter upgrades--5 S-class; 7 A-class; 15 B-class; 17 C-class
of those 44: 7 hyperdrive, 9 speed, 5 fuel efficiency, 7 exploration, 9 trading, 2 combat, 5 mining

---Items From Containers---

36 Salvaged Frigate Modules (seems lower than normal?)

150 Repair Kits (get them from the gift basket at the entry, 3 per freighter x 50)

13,950 Tainted Metal

1831 trading-only pieces (De-scented Bottles, Neural Ducts, Superconducting Fibres, Nanotube Crates, De-commissioned Circuits, Quantum Accelerators, Fusion Cores, Spark Canisters, Vector Compressors, Enormous Metal Cogs, Decrypted User Data, Teleport Coordinators, Dirt, and Re-latticed Arc Crystals, yeeesh) that sold for 40,457,690

568 Trading/crafting/lucrative pieces (144 Hadal Cores, 152 Hypnotic Eyes, 144 Larval Cores, 128 Storm Crystals) that sold for 59,264,787

60 Treasures (15 Excavated Bones, 15 Biological Samples [3 legendary], 11 Unearthed Treasures, 9 Terrifying Samples, 10 Historical Documents [1 legendary]) that sold for 19,663,150

Ugh, 192 rep items, which I'd love an autodelete toggle for (37 Gek Relics, 48 Vy'keen Effigies, 46 Vy'keen Daggers, 61 Korvax Casings) and would've sold for 3,880,000 or so if I hadn't destroyed them out of spite

Also 54 GekNip, 94 NipNip Buds, 41 Convergence Cubes, sold for about 7,000,000

---Upgrades From Containers---

For starship: 1 S-class Photon Cannon, 1 A-class Photon Cannon, 13 C-class Photon Cannons; 1 B-class Shield, 20 C-class Shields; 20 C-class Hyperdrives; 22 C-class Pulse Engines. Not a great way to pimp out your ride

For Exosuit: 3 B-class Thermal Protection; 7 B-class Life Support; 4 C-class Shields; 5 C-class Movements

For Multi-tool: 6 S-class Boltcaster; 6 C-class Geology Cannon; 5 C-class Scatter Blaster; 3 C-class Pulse Splitter; 6 C-class Blaze Javelins

And that's that. Lots of stuff, and 130,000,000+ units. Was hoping for a lot more A & S class exosuit and multitool upgrades though. Maybe the wiki tells us it's almost all C-class, didn't check it first as it's not accurate sometimes.

The most valuable loot in Abandoned Mode might actually be the 150 repair kits, if you're also playing survival or locked in the anti-cheating crafting difficulty. In this mode all the ships/multi-tools you acquire are riddled with broken slots, and some require unusual items now even rarer with these ghost space stations & no wandering traders [for example, never seen a Quad Servo aside from in busted autophages]. And I guess you could still cheat by only grabbing the gift box loot and never expending the signal scanner that opens the sealed door. 1 signal scanner for infinite repair kits. Cheater

**Results From 150 Space Station Yellow Boxes**

Well, sort of. I forgot to clear out my Salvaged Data, of which you get a lot from these. Also didn't count units or nanites. But good stuff, especially in this mode:

17 Exosuit Expansion Units (easy to max out just by warping)
18 Multi-tool Expansion Units (ditto)
11 Starship Storage Augmentation
5 Emergency Signal Scanners

Some standard blah or sellable items like Unstable Gel, Fusion Cores, etc.

3 S-class upgrades--all for Boltcaster
3 A-class upgrades--all for Mining Beam
22 C-class upgrades--8 Exocraft [2 Boost, 4 Laser, 1 Engine, 1 Cannon]; 5 Exosuit [all Movement]; 9 Starship [3 Photon Cannon, 3 Hyperdrive, 2 Launch Thruster, 1 Shield]

*P.S. for Abandoned Mode* Stopped checking the 2 Atlas-Pass rooms on space stations as most had carbon, sodium, microprocessors, other blah stuff. Also stopped checking the Anomaly's Multi-Tool in each system. After 60 or so checks, found only C-class pistols and rifles, zero other classes. Did find a creepy one with horns and snaggleteeth, also C-class. All others quite boring. Checking planets for multi-tools is MUCH more fun than summoning Anomaly every warp, and has an infinitely higher chance of success. And seeing Nada's soulless husk makes me sad. Don't bother with Anomaly, imo

I don't know if any of this is interesting or useful, but figured I'd share the data. Have fun!

Thank you for recording and posting this. I agree the Salvaged Frigate Modules seem fewer than in a normal save, but it can be quite variable.

I am curious why you chose the technology upgrade from the end console, Since we cannot get a freighter to install it to dismantle for the materials, I have been taking nanites - since those are now useful in quantity for upgrading found multitools/ships. But I've only done three or four derelicts in my abandoned save.
I would guess the decrease in SFMs comes from the increase in tech modules, reactor cores, etc.
simply put, more possible stuff = lower chances for any given possibility

Well done.

The FSM drop rate is about what I would expect.

I'm good on nanites because with the purple systems now full of fauna I'm making nanites from the full scan bonus, which is my usual playstyle. Also early on found a great relic planet full of easy exozooming terrain and those Memory Stones that give 100-300 nanites each, and some were bunched in 2s or 3s. It added up quick!

Also figured I was done with freighters for a loooong time after this, so should get the only unique item they had.

Lotta work. Thanks for taking the time. I toy with an abandoned save in my mind but have yet to try it. I keep getting distracted...

Yes, with fauna existing again it helps a lot, that is my usual playstyle too.

I had been wondering whether the derelicts might have a chance to give other tech upgrades, e.g. exocraft, suit or ship upgrades, but from your results is seems they are still limited to freighter tech or the starship cores. I have found a couple of C class exocraft engine upgrades in the yellow boxes on space stations, so they are out there.
