Change hotkeys for landing AND lock target
So there is this Target lock with E, but its the same for landing. You cannot land when its enabled while anything is flying around, it will auto target it instead.
Remapping keys doesnt work, it just ignores landing instead.
Example:
E -> Land
R -> Target lock
since E was target lock before, game now doesnt land because I unbind E for lock to R instead. Whats the point of remap if it doesnt work?
My mapping CLEARLY says "E for Land" and "R for Target Lock"

All I want is to fly, target lock with E (or anything else), shoot down sentinels, land with E.
It will just target lock instead of landing.
S for "hold" is out of the question since I need to stop my ship somehow and S target locks instead.
Who even came up with E and S for this halfassed feature? There are SO MANY buttons free during flight and they really chose E and S!? Cmon HG I thougth you were better than this.

Anyone who was able to manage this? Playing throughout the day and Ive never been so annoyed with any game in my life with how much lazyness and bugs there is.

I get your predicament (I think lol). The context-sensitivity doesn't allow it to work as you like (or, as it does..).

To answer your "Anyone who was able to manage this?":

E - I left the default E for "Exit Ship".

L - Land Ship

[End] - Closest Target (along w Home and Insert for Next / Prev target).

That works great for me. Other's mileage is often different. :)
Ah no the exit ship isnt a problem, its landing during flight and battle while locking is enabled.
As you know you can Autopilot Target lock with S to hold or E to toggle, but if you press E to land it will toggle Target Lock instead. I have to defeat all the enemies (so there is no red arrows), and quickly spam E to land, then I can exit with E regardless if enemies are present or not. Otherwise E just doesnt do anything at all while enemies are present.
Its like it disables landing entirely when enemies are present and gives priority to target lock instead, even if I bind the "Target lock" or "Landing" to anything else (I tried R and Q)
This issue is not present if target lock is entirely disabled, I can fight manually or just E to land while being shot at and whatnot.

I just wanted to farm some Crystallized Hearts, but will dupe the fk out of them now and never look back xD
Thanks anyways.

if someone wants to reproduce it:

- Enable Starship Combat Auto-Follow (toggle)
- Remap Combat Autopilot (Toggle) to something else than E (i.e to R)
- Engage in a planetary battle, press R to lock, works
- Press E to land while enemies are present (red arrows), nothing will happen, but should
- Defeat enemies and press E to land, you will land now when no red arrows are present

The question is whats the point of remap if it doesnt let you use the hotkey anyways.
Supposed to be R to lock/unlock, E for land.
I think E gets overwritten by remap but since it shares landing with lock, it STILL gives priority to lock, but since its not the key for it anymore it just doesnt do anything instead of doing what it says in the remap interface.

To show my ignorance of the game mechanics - I have long thought that landing was disabled during fighting.

I can't land, I'm pretty sure, with my key set-up either, when under attack. Unless - I can often do it very quickly like before the first shots, like if there happens to be a landing pad right there.

But now I can't say I'm sure of it lol. In any case, in my head - it works that way on purpose. I guess I don't really know. That's been an assumption.
Ah I see, hmm thats weird, Im able to land during battles and while enemies are present normally when the Autopilot is entirely OFF in the settings.

Logically thinking you're right, we shouldnt be able to land while being shot at at all. Then Im bugged and am not supposed to be able to land like that.

Well at least we need an error message saying something like "Cannot land during battle", instead of no feedback at all, it confusing lol, and then we can land while the timer is running until next wave arrives :D
Im so exhausted from this game's mysteries already xD

Thank you for your input!

Hmmm. Guess I may need to retest this myself. Refresh my mind on how it does work.

I don't recall being able to land during planetary ship attacks. I just exited the game for awhile; but next time in I need to check my autopilot settings. I *think* it's set to where I have to hold down the key (because - that's what I do lol). Not sure if you think that would make a difference.

Hopefully someone knowledgeable will chime in. I was basically just answering that one part.

But now I'm curious..
I know I have seen the message pop on screen "Landing not permitted during Combat" or something like that when I have accidentally pressed the land button during combat near a planet.

I guess if you are so high up it will give you the "Too high up" or "Going to Fast" when you hit the land button.

There are points in flight combat where you can pulse away or presumably land if you were down on the deck of a planet. That sounded like the situation where clearing the red triangles had that effect. Between waves is when you get that option.
