Multiplayer Activation & The Anomaly
Hello Fellow Travelers!

I want to meet other players and if not, at least see other folks running about in The Anomaly. For some reason I am imagining that with Multiplayer "ON" it would be like a party of sorts...

Q1. Is it so? Will I see other travelers doing their things if I fly into The Anomaly, and be able to interact, look around etc?

I do not want to meet any "Griefers". So, I am thinking I will:-

First fly into The Anomaly - Once safely parked in The Anomaly I will turn my Multiplayer "ON"...

Q2. Ideally if I hang out there, other real world travelers will eventually show up there, yes?

Q3. Can someone shoot/kill me in The Anomaly and take my stuff?

Q4. Are there any dangers to having Multiplayer "ON" in The Anomaly?

-

Once I've had my fill, I will simply turn my Multiplayer "OFF" and fly out of The Anomaly.

Q5. Will that work as I am imagining it to?

Basically, I want to fly into The Anomaly, Turn Multiplayer "ON", meet/see other players, Turn Multiplayer "OFF" and then get back to doing my thing!

Any pitfalls here?

My experience has been turning multiplayer on in the Anomaly, a bunch of other players suddenly appear, but conversely to what it may seem the longer you stay in there the number of players also in there drops until you're alone again. It's been a while since I've done it so maybe it's different now.

But yeah if you want to interact with other players but don't want the other issues of multiplayer, turning it on while you're in the Anomaly and turning it back off before you leave is fine. The other players will just appear and disappear as you switch it on and off.

Splendid! Thank you for this! Gonna see what happens! Happy exploring Traveler!
Check your settings beforehand with PvP off and the usual anti-griefer options. I do that too because it's fun to see what other folks fly. I also feed my pets there and let them roam around a bit. Otherwise it's MP off for the win. Life is jus so much easier that way.

The worst things about multiplayer are significant FPS drops (at least with a relatively weak CPU - for sure) and some terrible glitches when lots of players are nearby - like you cant deal any damage to NPC enemies or NPC dont work at all, scripts not work, getting softlocks, etc.
Never encountered a griefer as I always keep PVP setting off.
Although, one time some honorable person placed a base above my one. Its not a big deal however as you can remove it with a complain in a few seconds.

Thank you Foxgloves & Fureimu! I will keep this in mind. Guess I'll be flying into The Anomaly in about 20 minutes. Yeay! Me so excited!

So, how was your visit to the anomaly? Did you receive any gifts from other players (this happens often). I regret not having been in-game at the time because I would have been very happy to greet you. Personally, most of the time I play with multiplayer enabled and PVP disabled, and I have rarely encountered "griefers".

Hi Heliosa! My visit to The Anomaly with Multiplayer "ON" was rather fun actually. A lot of players picking up Nexus Missions, I saw a lot of really beautiful ships! There was one traveler who was just dancing next to the Nexus Missions console, so I went and burst into a dance too. My first space dance off! I was running about with my animal companion, just looking at what everyone is doing. Not received any gifts but I saw other players giving away things. It is so kind of you to say we could have said hello! Yes! Next time we must and I will bring you a gift, and we could also have a dance off! Alright I am going to try playing with Multiplayer Enabled and PVP Disabled, lets see how that goes! Thank you dear Traveler! I wish you happy space time!

@Komodo. Thanks for your reply.
I remember my first visit to the anomaly. I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I didn't watch videos, I didn't consult the forum. It was a complete unknown. Fantastic!
If you want to meet up, it's easy: we can arrange to meet in the anomaly (but it doesn't always work out well), you can join me when I'm in-game by checking my profile (right now, I'm mostly on the Relics expedition), or you can send me a contact request. I'd be delighted to give you some gifts.
We could, of course, dance together, show off our farts, our ships. We could also set off fireworks on a planet, do a Nexus mission...
As far as I'm concerned, while multiplayer is almost always enabled, it's the opposite for PVP.
Have a good trip, dear Traveler! And maybe see you soon...
i have even pvp on (not to shot people, just for more realism. i play on normal mode, which seem pretty "easy going").
with quite some expeditions done, some nexus missions. only got shot once, by accident and dude apologised.
once someone flew their ship over me and shot, but i hid in a building and they went away.

the only thing is gifting. i do gift stuff too (in small portions). but sometimes you recieve stuff you diddnt want. but trust me, after some hours and you got your bases for ressources set up. you wont mind that, that much anymore.

Hello Heliosa, I think I'll add you as a friend on Steam. I suppose that's what you mean by "contact request" yes? If there is another way, I would not know. I've been on Steam a long time but this is the first time ever that I am engaging with a community. Yes! I think I'd love a team up for a Nexus Mission... and can people also team up for Expeditions?

Hello Raving Madness! Thank you for the insights! I've been thinking I really want to do an expedition. I am interested in Relics but apparently there's too many bugs, and getting the bone fish is super hard it seems. LOL. We'll let me look into it. If there's a really cool ship as part of Relics, I may attempt it.
