Poor Performance
Have over 70 hours and the games been running great. Seemingly until this relic update. On the most recent GPU driver and I get insane stutter and performance tanks into the 20 with things not even fully rendering anymore. I have r9 7900x, 4070, 32 gb of 6k mhz RAM so im shocked at how bad this is. Looking at performance metrics I see my GPU usages dips into the 20%. Is this a known issue lately?

I don't know about "a known issue" but big updates can temporarily do weird performance things, maybe relating to caching stuff.

But with the above quote, the first thing I'd check is rolling back to the previous driver and see if it still happens. I have heard some complaints re: current nvidia driver, but as always that is just going to vary from user to user and game to game with any driver change.
I also went from 100 FPS to 25. 3070 TI. It's real.

There were a few issues with a couple of the recent nVidia Game Ready drivers. I believe the very latest one (572.83) fixed most of those issues. But you may still need to tweak some settings in the nVidia app (e.g. Low Latency mode seems to get enabled on some systems).

I'd goto C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS and delete tkgraphicssettings.mxml and restart the game. It will create a new file and set graphics to default. 572.83 drivers aren't bad i use them. But if you can't resolve it go back to 566.36 drivers as the 570+ ones are bad for a lot of people especially 4xxx gpus or so they say.

572.83 drivers are ok for me.

I'd look into overlays as being the cause as well, fpsmonitor, twitch, obs, discord, etc.

I've had the same issue. It happened when Worlds 2 hit, but then it was patched out. Then with Relics it's back. My GPU utilization refuses to cross 60% and often sits at 40%. CPU is even lower. I have "playable" frame rates still, but my 1% lows are abysmal.

Mine went from 165fps down to 15fps since the update.

Im running a 3060ti Founders Edition with a i5 13600 - DDR5 6000 RAM

i have the same problem currently... i have a 4090 and a ryzen 7 5700x3d and i get only 55-65 fps on a empty station and my gpu usage is on 35-45% with 4k DLSSQ ...the strange thing is if i go lower with DLSS (to performance) i get more fps but the gpu usage stays the same... they really need to fix those issues...
also frame generation is still broken and not working... if i enable it my fps go down to 40 and it becomes a stuttery mess
There have been issues with recent NVIDIA drivers, try installing an older driver.
You know what's sick tho... On my steamdeck it's pulling 60 fps on standard detail in the same purple world that gives my 3070 20fps, lol. It's definitely an nvidia thing.

I´ve constant 60 FPS (monitor can not more) with my 4090 and FrameGen enabled

why do u need to enable frame gen to get 60 fps??? the 4090 is capable (wehen it works as intended) to run the game at 8k resolution with 60+ fps... you make your own experience extremly bad if you use frame generation for 60 fps mate

We had some trouble with our fiber internet and also power during bad weather, internet connection going in and out and also power (computers on UPS so doesn't go out but fiber modem isn't) and it caused severe lag and instability. Had to shut it down and play again after the internet was stable again.

who cares .. as long as I have always 60 fps and quality is ok
And I only mentioned it because Dragozool did post that it does not work

yes because it does not work for me and many other people... the internet is full of complains that frame generation is not working.. damn even Nvidia itself refuses to add No Mans Sky to the frame generation listed games because of that

There were (past tense) major issues with nVidia FrameGen for a few months with many of the 57x.x drivers, especially on RTX4xxx cards. I was able to replicate the crash on demand on my 4060 (laptop).
There is no crash issue currently with the 572.83 drivers, FrameGen works, although I would say it does give me some occasional stutter so I tend to keep it off. Also refer to reply #4 above.
