I posted a screenshot...
WTH is this? You can find it in the Steam screenshots.

In easily over THREE thousand hours??? (OMG) of playing this game, I have never come upon anything like it. Naturally, I put a small base on top of it.

At first I thought it was a planet or moon on the horizon, which somehow got stuck during its generation. But then I got closer and it seems to be 'growing' right out of the planet. It really is strange, at least to me.

NMS has warts. ;-)
"Floating land masses" have been in NMS for quite a long time. Usually, though, they have oblong, oval, or randomly distributed shapes, so this spherical one can be called a rather rare find.
It looks like a rare weird terrain formation. If there are no others and it can not be destroyed with a mining laser and only by the terrain tool then it's the math of the game creating an unusual terrain formation. Are there similar formations on the surface elsewhere? Or floating just above the ground? The procedural mathematics possibly may repeat itself elsewhere, just possibly.

Maybe post the Portal Address too and others can come see your find. You could maybe build a base nearby with a visitor centre and charge an entrance fee : D

The address can overlay the picture in Photo Mode.

Do You imagine how big is this one? From picture is very difficult.
There are very rare planets with these structures...

Man I'm frustrated... the "new" view option for screen shots taken in-game does NOT include the overlay for the portal; tried every which way I could think of... frustrating.

It's fairly large... takes 15 or more seconds to boost to the top with jet booster.

I'll try to give the address in words :-)

Boat Sunrise Spider Galaxy Sunrise Oldman Sunrise Fish Galaxy Mosquito Bird Mosquito

It is in Xobeurindj Galaxy. The system name is Yiduhsh V. Planet name is Tidauri Uonu.

Good luck :-)
I was recently on a planet with one similar only more tear drop shape, like an unopened mushroom with a bulbous top. I also think they are new terrain items, like the old buttes but not with nice sheer walls to the top. Needs some trees though.

Also noticed no more portal glyphs on photos, what's with that?
Screenshots without glyphs hopefully a bug.
Cool though. Never seen this spherical terraform.

(Euclid)
It's not sufficient all jetpack fuel to reach the top!
You can in the screenshot mode, choose whether you want to show glyphs, or not, you do it with the 'Left Shift' key.
And I just checked that it still worked that way, and it does.

And also took a picture (with glyphs), maybe not related to the topic, but it's a nice picture anyway.

edit.
forgot to point out that glyps are only included in the image when using the F12 key.

My left shift key removes "the menu" - which is everything. I tried it both ways on mine but I'll give it another sling. Be back shortly :-)

Nope - neither way puts the glyphs on the image. If someone else finds a way to change this so it works 'the way it used to work' (left shift controlled the inclusion/exclusion) be sure to make a note here.

Thanks!
