BAIT all Gone and No Fish for Expidition 18

I use all My Bait up and never caught the fish required for the 3rd part now
I am stuck as I watched a video on Youtube and noticed too late that the
instructions sent me to wrong planet to fish.. It was a Water Plated and I fished
Day & Night and caught all kinds including Old boots But Not the fish I needed.
Is there still a way to get the fish without the special Bait as You can not create
Lubricant in the Expedition as you need to be given the Recipe from a Hired Tech
MPC.

45-50u on a toxic planet at night gives the best odds of catching both.

However, if you only concentrate on the Whispering Bonefish, you definitely don't need a Toxic planet or the Legendary (Bionic Lure) bait.
Just fish on any planet (except a Gas Giant) at night.
You don't have to use any bait but Shadow Lures (for nocturnal fish) are quite cheap to make (Antimatter, Metal Plate and Cyto-phosphate).
Even easier, you can cook some of your 80 collected bones up to make Softened Marrow which also attracts nocturnal fish when used as bait:

p.s. you can buy the recipe for Lubricant in the Anomaly at the terminal next to the Multi-Tool cabinet between the Multi-tool and Exocraft Iterations.

Just remember that any bait only improves the odds of catching specific fish types, none of them result in a 100% guaranteed catch rate. You will still likely catch a lot of fish you don't want before catching the one you do... just like real fishing ;)

Also remember that all fish you catch can be released back into the water for nanite rewards, so you aren't feeling like you are doing something for nothing.

bait is not necessary, you can fish without it, it will just be less ideal odds of getting rarer fish

i fished 174 times and the 175th was it.

Took me 150 fish to catch the toxic one and I caught it using animal food pellets. Make sure you're in proper deep water though,

Also took me a ton of fish and I gave up on the toxic planet, moved forward to next area with two water words and decided WTHell, landed and fished off my ship with night bait during the day in deepest of ocean and got it after only a few casts. RNG is a fickle master.

I went to the Phase Four system which has TWO water planets. I fished at night and got my whispering bonefish on my eighth try.
