Bone Fish?
I went to three of the bases claiming to be a bone fish spot. I caught 2 Toxic Bone Fish at one of them but it did not qualify. Is there another Bone Fish available at the third system toxic world? I gave up after about 20 catches.

45-50u on a toxic planet at night gives the best odds of catching both.

Mine worked with the whispering bonefish. Just normal worm bait

You sure those weren't toxic stone fish you caught?

Not sure if you noticed there are some restrictions. Needs to be on toxic planet, Must fish at night, and must be in deep water. Some the bases I found that said for fishing weren't on a toxic planet. Anothier one was only anbout 10u deep so i didn't bother with anything there.

I caught my bone fish while standing on my ship (I have the water landing upgrade thingy). I kept flying around until I found a deeper spot, made sure it was night time, and then caught the fish in about 7-10 tries. Edit: The dept was 74u.

Yeah stone fish. Waiting for dark now to hopefully have better luck. Caught over 40 fish but not the one I need.

Pretty much this. I got the Whispering Bonefish, which is a nocturnal fish, so using the Shadow Lure during nighttime should net you one in a few tries even if you're not on a Toxic planet.

How deep is considered enough depth? I have been trying with the bionic lure, but no success. I hate fishing, the aquarius expedition was a Pain in the ***.

45-50u ...
Both fish are "large", not colossal, so deepest water is not required.
Note, all size fish are catchable in any depth, it is only the odds of catching that changes with depth. The deeper the water, the better the chances of bigger fish. Once you go over 50u, the increased chances of colossal fish reduces the chance of large fish slightly.
I didn't use ANY Bait, but I did catch the BoneFish AT NIGHT, as per the Instructions for catching Bonefish

Yep. I have been following the instructions. Even following the night in a toxic planet

A different related question: th eamount of fishes bought, released or boots catched count towards the fish bowl/ helmet unlocks for the main save?

I landed on an island in the middle of the ocean on a toxic planet during the day. Was lucky enough to land the Bleached Bonefish after a few casts. : )
any specific systems?
stuck on this too
these rng based milestones are stupid and really need to stop

I don't mind them, this one just was lousy luck for me. 58 fish to finally get the one I needed. Waiting till dark helped but it did start feeling like it was never going to happen, when it finally did.
