it's perfectly fine for showing off, how do you think everyone is going to react when someone gets 50+ exhibits and showcases them beautifully? (very unlikely, but just roll with me here) With awe.
if you think that the content of the new Relics update is pointless, then that's your opinion. Not ours.
Latest NMS update, released yesterday. Ancient bones are now real objects that can be reassembled (creatively) into skeletons you can sell or display.
It's just a fun little side activity, but thoughtfully implemented, and personally one of my favorite minor updates so far. Funny how tastes can differ! ;)
Relics, Artefacts, Treasures and many other things, have been in the game to find for a long while.
It's tremendous fun to now actually piece together any found relics and see them in three dimensions. Never thought it would be so thrilling to actually dig something up with so much anticipation but it oddly REALLY is! Making 3d models of the relics adds a worthwhile reason to explore wherever you may be, while whatever you may be doing across the planets.
I didn't realise either, that all the bone pieces can be used as separate building parts and do not have to exist in situ on a display stand. This is a gift for builders! Hundreds of more parts to play with.
To be able to trade competed constructions or parts with others is also great. It's a super update that came out of nowhere. A lot of hard work clearly 'on display' by the talented artists at Hello Games.
The stone guardians and other bone like beings are also an exciting addition to the growing number of surprising encounters in the sci-fi worlds we can discover. Plus all the rewards to claim for our characters on completing the current Relics expedition are exceptionally well designed and some useful too. A lot of thought has gone into this update which is also free and is not lame or pointless in the least.
Dont engage with it then. You spent more time complaining about it than you need to playing it which is ironic considering you think the content is a time sink.
I rather like the relic hunting and building my own creations from the bones I acquire. That was a request from many of us because just digging the bones up was not fun after a bit. Having a purpose and gambling with the bone seller is kind of a fun activity IMO.
The thing I didn't like was spending 3 hours hunting fossils before I finally got my first tail piece and another 1ish hour before I saw my second. That was a little excessive if you ask me.
However...nothing beat fishing on the poisonous planet at night quest. It has to be deep water and it has to be night and there is only one poison planet in the system and of course my luck: I spent the entire night trying to find a spot that's deep enough for the quest and it turns day-time. Let me tell you, I never shut a game off so fast in frustration. I was over it lol.
Besides that, the expedition isn't too bad. I think the addition of the dino-like displays are very cool and another way to show off your base. Can't wait for LNF. (Also the new enemies that spawn around the fossils and of course the new living stone gear is pretty dope).
