Experimental Branch 26/03
Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch 26/03
  • Fix loading mods causing corrupt game data such as failing to load into saves.

Experimental Branch 26/03
  • Fix an animation issue with pet accessories for the living fossil companion.
  • Fix an issue that caused explosive damage to have no effect.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the suit voice to playback more loudly than intended.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented NPC ships from landing.
  • Fixed an issue which cause the living stone suit customisation set not being awarded to Switch players.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when base building.
  • Fixed a multiplayer crash on PS5.
  • Fixed a PC crash when starting the game.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here on PC: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\ and here on mac: ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Does the suit voice still seem louder than normal to anyone else or am I going crazy?

No, it's still pretty loud unless I'm also crazy

I like the suit voice.
Why doesn't the game start but closes immediately?
Not in beta.

The suit voice has a name ;) It's Telamon.

Patch notes says it was fixed, but it's still loud. What are you reading?

Warning: Emotional Damage Detected
Short low stone wall B has been fixed as noted in the Relic patch notes. It no longer flickers like a mad crazy object.

Zooming in and out in bases has also been fixed as noted in Relic natch potes.

Short low stone wall A actually has worse flickering here on *experimental* - Who knew that was even possible... Back to the drawing board but thanks for the effort.

All low stone walls within the area of overlap still flicker but it's not obvious and not probably fixable.

Game still Wont Load, Tried Experimental, reinstalling gfx drivers, and doing a system restore to a restore point from last week.
As I've seen a couple other people mention here, this seems to have completely broken the game. A white window shows for a second or two after a pop-up that lasts several seconds that says "Starting Game: No Man's Sky: Launching: Launching Executable" I cannot play now and I'd really like to. I don't know how to roll back the update.

This is on Steam on Windows 10. I never opted into the experimental branch, but I saw that updates were being downloaded today before I tried to play and I can't figure out how to undo them.

Yes, I noticed my game updated 3 times today. Public build, then two experimental updates, which is why I'm here. Just wondering why it seems like nothing changed.
