Trouble finding a purple system
Wonder if anyone can help with our predicament.
We have an Atlantid drive and we gave Atlas the memories of Atlantid and generated a planet in a purple system. However, we've followed the mission's route for a large number of jumps and there's been no end in sight and we're a bit tired of it tbh.

So we looked around for any purple stars to visit, but we've been unable to find any. The stars that look purple are just indium.

Do we just need to keep looking, or do we need to finish the (tedious) route to system Atlas has sent us to before purple stars in general become unlocked?

Then when you activate the teleporter, the system shown in the top right corner of the list should be the one closest to your target.

Of course, if you didn't visit a space station in the system where you first talked to Yabli-α then you may still need to make some extra jumps to get back on track.

Purple star systems have X and Y letters in their identification names when viewing the galaxy map. If you haven't completed the quest with that first purple star system the others won't unlock.
When you say "we", are you saying you are playing co-op?
If so, that's likely the cause of the issue. I'm not sure if there's a way to reset the mission while playing solo, but I'd recommend giving that a shot. You can rejoin coop after you've completed the mission.

When you generate the first purple system, it should be within a few hundred ly...
If it takes you a bunch of warps, then you've likely got a bug.
You were able to visit that system at some point, and you most likely teleported your way home after visiting.

Check your discoveries, look for a purple system in your list. Add a planet from that system to your wonders. Grab the glyphs, visit a ancient site, to open an ancient portal, add glyphs of one of the created planets listed in the galaxy. You're welcome.

Otherwise, keep warping, you'll get there someday.
If you teleported away at some point to get some resources from another base in another far away system, vs. aquiring them in the quest system, then teleported back, before one of the times you talked to that space robot or whatever it was (edit: divergence fragment?), between Atlas stations, I think that can hose the tracking of the quest.

I had to reload a backup re: the endless warping to the first purple planet for the quest.
Unfortunately most ppl aren't going to back up the save during/while playing the quest, like I was doing and this game's save system is terrible.

Plus and/or the co-op could have done something.
Thanks everybody,
by 'we' I just meant I was playing with my son, not in co-op. Good to know that we do have to complete that quest to unlock purple systems -- I don't think we have a backup so not sure what to do if we're stuck in an endless warping doom-loop...
Thanks again for your help.

I gave you the answer for your situation..
To be fair, I didn't make a concerted effort to follow the endless warp "forever", only about 30 jumps, since for me loading the back up was easier. I had an endless warp quest issue before, so I'm a little paranoid re: main quests now, which is why I was backing up as I went along etc.

Initially I thought perhaps my answers created a planet that was far away so I warped 30 times or so but yeah. It's supposed to show a galaxy-map quest icon maybe one or two system warps away.

I'm not sure how to solve it without a backup. there could be ways, there's been some threads here and there but I didn't read all/remember.

They're talking about the quest to get the purple system ship drive, where they then want you go to your "first one". He's never been to the purple system in question before.

Sorry Mavin, I must have not quite understood -- I don't think we have been to a purple system and there's no purple system that we've visited, so I couldn't see how to apply your answer.
(When I said 'generated a planet in a purple system' I meant that the planet generated is in a purple system, not that we were in a purple system when we gave Atlas the seeds -- sorry if that was unclear)

If you block them, they make a lot more sense.

Block me? What did I do? WTF?

I understand, but when it was generated, you have it as a mission to go to that system yes? That's why you are warping there right? They give you the name of the solar system in the mission. If you go to Discoveries you can select the system listed and select one of the planets under that system. I found mine in Uninhabited Systems. If it's not there, I guess this wasn't helpful. I wouldn't know how to get back other than warping then.

As for blocking me, do you. No idea why that was suggested.

Edit; Also, if you have to warp, I feel your pain.

Well, that will be great if it works. I never bothered/thought to check those discovery lists since I had a backup and just went to that. At least it's something to look for/check.

The bug, if that is what it is, might be that teleporting out of quest system before you've even reached the "pick a planet by answering questsions" phase = a system is possibly never truly generated in the first place. Hopefully that's not the case for the OP.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks everybody -- we must have teleported without realising -- aelfhe1m's suggestion got us back on track and it was just a couple of jumps away. Thanks again for all the helpful and informative answers.
I just wanted to thank @aelfhe1m for their post. That method also seems to work if you have just teleported to your freighter (in my main giant save, argh) and discovered it has "reset" - in terms of all the rooms you laid out being gone, except for the one small area with the teleporter in it. At least I didn't teleport inside a block or outside in space.

Reloading restore point or full exit/reload didn't help itself but I remembered this thread and tried changing the quest log to something else before trying to teleport to freighter (had no idea what it was on before) and it worked. Freighter back to the way it was/should be. Phew! So thanks again! :steamhappy:

Nah, all you need to do, if you teleport on your freighter, and are stuck in the room, just teleport out, and return. If your room is not loaded fully but you can get to the hanger of the freighter, hit the pad to port, then just return. This will reload the freighter build.

I've never had to reload a restore, exit the game, or reload. Don't need to change quests, or call your freighter from a different system, etc.
