I feel stupid but I can't find any copper to make chromatic metal to make a warp cell
Am I missing something?

Use the new quartsite or activated quartsite. Don't feel bad I spent way too much time looking for copper too.

Every planet has copper deposits. Use your visor scan and just look for them.

Keep searching. Wife and I just got past that part and she had some trouble finding it initially too.

Copper is only found in yellow star systems.

thank you. That was driving me crazy.

copper is one of the five Stellar Metals in NMS... all of them and their Activated versions refine into Chromatic Metal...
The starting ship comes with a rocket launcher. If you scrap it you get 100 Copper. I never use the thing.

If no copper is found in your system, warp to another one!

Can't warp without anti-matter, you need copper to create chromatic metal that is required to create anti-matter, rince and repeat

Copper is one of five stellar metals. All you need is one of them. The guide includes recipes and will show you what you need.
As gizmo6023 said, Quartzite is a stellar metal (like copper, cadmium, indium and emeril), so it refines into Chromatic metal (and activated Quartzite gives you more than even activated Indium).

Chromatic metal can be made in a simple refiner using cadmium, indium or emeril or the activated versions of those. By adding pure ferrite to those in a medium refiner doubles the output amount. Combining silver and gold to those in a large refiner produces 10-30 chromatic metal for each single ingredient added. You don't necessarily need copper.
