Started the Titan Expedition but cannot find any ferrite
So I started on a extreme weather planet but no rocks or anything to get ferrite dust to repair ship.

I got the personal refiner and fixed the land gears.

What do I do?

Look for a cave, I found some in a cave. It was the only place I could find it.

Rusted metal from crates. There should be one at the ship & another nearby.
I can't even find a cave. I have died three times due to being sucked up in a tornado.

Does the crates show up on my vis scanner? If so, what are listed as?

Thought we all started same place, my Gas Giant had boulders containing Ferrire and DiHygrogen all over the place and masses of Concentrated Carbon as well.

No, there's a bunch of potential starting spots. Either Cursed or Aquarius my first save spawned right next to a Sentinel Pillar. Started 2 more times after that, but didn't get the same spot again.

That's also why you see the retarded balls everywhere. A lot of times on the starting planet, that's where they found their ship or the like.

There are ferrite rocks on the starting planet. The most common one is smaller and kind of looks like a crater.
I was able to find a second case off to the side. Now I need to find the fifth planet and get out of this stupid system. :steamhappy:
Use your scanner to look for "Subterranean Relics" <- that will lead you to a cave and there are ferrite rocks in there

Why? I've got basically all of 1, 2, half of 4 & half of 5 done & I still haven't left.

I'm about to leave now, because most of 3 would be easier with the R#2 reward.
I found out (out of experimenting from frustration) that the Crystallized Helium can be refined to Ferrite Dust, if you're really desperate, too.

There's a ton of stuff to do in the initial system. Collect Storm Crystals, Crystallized Helium, and Ancient Bones, for example.

Sure, the initial planet is hostile, but you can negate that pretty effectively by doing a lot of tunneling.
Crystalized Helium refines into Ferrite Dust.

In caves, look for minerals that are shaped like "bowls" that have pink round mineral formations inside of them.

Also near them are commonly round rocks that will mine into Pure Ferrite (which you also need for your ship).

One of the first goals gives you a personal refiner package, as well.

For this to work you need to turn multiplayer off, or get to the crate first. When I started the expedition, the game flipped Multiplayer on even though I had it turned off, so when I got to my ship there were 6 other players parked there and everyone was scrambling for ferrite. The rusted metal was gone, so I had to save and turn off multiplayer to get the rusted metal to appear.

You also need some ferrite to start to make a refiner to process the rusted metal :)
