Stuck in Atlas Interface
Good evening everyone,

First of all, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Now to my problem... A few days ago, I started playing this game, and after around 60 hours, I’m still absolutely amazed. But now I’ve run into a big issue.

I was at an Atlas interface, logged out while I was there, and when I logged back in, I got stuck in the interface and now I can’t get out. The only way to get out there is to join a multiplayer lobby every single time just to be able to play, and it’s getting really frustrating. I’ve already tried a lot of different things, like joining a lobby, leaving the group, saving my game, and so on, but nothing seems to work. I’m honestly about to quit this game. If I have to restart the game from scratch because of this, I’m done. I really don’t want to play through everything all over again. And constantly asking friends to open a lobby for me just so I can play isn’t a real solution either.

I honestly don’t understand why there isn’t a simple option like a “stuck" button for situations like this.

If anyone has an idea on how to fix this, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much in advance!

Can you explain a little more? How exactly are you 'stuck' in an Atlas Interface? Your link is a dead link, so if that's supposed to be a screenshot showing the issue, perhaps try adding it to Steam so people can see it.

Sorry, I sent the wrong link earlier. It should work now.
I can move around in the Atlas interface, but not where I’m supposed to... it feels like I’m outside the map check the picture.

Yep, that certainly does look like it is out of the bounds of the navigable area. Did you try loading your last Restore Point save? That's not a location where a manual save would be made, so you should have an older save from when you first got out of your ship there.

While in the game (not at the main menu, but actually loaded in like in the screenshot), go to the Options screen and on the right side there are two save slots. Your autosave and your restore point. Try reloading the older one.

If that doesn't work, there is a very easy way to fix this using the save editor. If that's something you're willing to try.

I've already tried that. No matter which save game I load, I always end up in the Atlas, unless I join a multiplayer lobby. Even if I'm in a multiplayer lobby and then leave to play offline alone and save, the same thing happens. Well, I think I'm stuck there, and the only option is to create a new game or play through friends lol. I will check the save editor, thank you very much!

Another classic case of why we need to be making our own personal save backups. You might see if you can access Steam Cloud save backups. You will lose some time in the game, but better than being trapped.

It would be nice if they extended the functionality that we already have on our freighters to teleport to a safe location so that it functioned everywhere.

I don't fully understand why they implemented that function specifically on the freighter base only.

My guess would be it's because the Freighters bug out, and they don't know how to fix it (Missing rooms, missing floors that cause you to fall into space/get stuck in the floor, so they added that “quick fix” to freighters.

Sure, but my point is that as long as they were talking the time to add the feature in the first place, why not just make it a global feature?

I understand why they added it for freighters, but in the time they spent doing it they could have just made a global "unstuck" feature instead, like many, many other games have. In other words, they made a baffling choice to limit it. The time invested to do it would have been nearly the same for it to be global rather than freighter limited.

I agree with you.
I think they only “Kind of sort of 'fixed'” the Freighter problem because the bug reports far outnumbered any other problem.
But yes, there should be an “Unstick” feature, because I'm having some close calls on Planets and the foliage too.

When I first bought the game back in 2016, I ended up refunding it, because I lost a couple ships, because once I landed in the top of a tree, fell out of the ship, and couldn't reach it to get back in, and lost another getting it stuck in a cave.
