Game Crashed and 5 hours of progress lost, any fix ?
As in the Title, my Game crashed out of nowhere. When i wanted to restart Steam had a Cloud Issue and asked which save i wanted to use, local data save, which had 0:22 as a timestamp and Steam Cloud which had 0:26, so obviously i picked the Cloud with the more recent one.
Pretty sure that was the Time I quit the Game yesterday so my entire Gamesession with my friends, where i got incredibly lucky with the found loot and ships was all lost. Is there any way i can restore my progress ?

Sadly, no. That's a major problem with the Steam Cloud. NMS isn't the only game to have this happen. It overwrites save files without any fail safes.

Someone earlier this week had same problem. They finished the expedition and when the game told them that it would convert to a normal save when they next logged in the person didn't realize that meant they should log out. Yours may not be same problem but scroll back on the forum about a week or so and see what the final answer they got was. You should be seeing saves pretty regularly, see saves happen when you jump out of your ship. Otherwise sounds like a holiday bug.

I also never let the game run more than 4 hrs before I log out, being careful to notice how long since I saved on the splash screen. Back in the old days before the fairly new changes to saves lots of us lost tons of hours, not regularly but made a lot of us pretty twitchy about how and when we save manually no matter what the game seems to be doing.

I avoid “Cloud Saves” altogether.
For some reason, Steam keeps turning it back on randomly.
