is there any point in following the path to the center of galaxy? i'm about 10 jumps in.
after 2nd jump i was like you know what? i'm not quick to finish the story this is a great game lol. now with my first blackhole last night and traveling 890k lightyears away...if i did something wrong lol.

same kind of worlds, same kinds of things in the trade network and literally the ships in this first system also look identical to before lol.

so i'm just kind of wondering now if i should say to hell with the exploration side of it and just try to knock out more of the questline?

No matter what you do in NMS, the galaxies will still be here, mostly unknown and unexplored. It doesn't matter if you scream through the quest-line or take your time exploring, it'll remain the same after you're done. Your choice. : )

So we go back to "another notch in the ole belt" idea hmm? Makes sense.

Beware, do not galaxy jump in a sentinel ship. Looking for sentinel parts is almost impossible as the game does not drop u on a dissonant planet.

Galaxy jumping is when you reach the core or finish the first campaign on fresh profiles.

Easy enough to just keep repair kits around to cover that eventuality. Repair kits work for any repair where you do not have the materials required.

This is what is throwing me off lately.

A huge galaxy but it is all copy paste. No matter where you go you will find the same old boring stuff with maybe some minor differences. All "new" explored plants and animals are just the same thing with a different name. Even animals are often the same with minor differences.

You start a new galaxy it is still all the same.

No new races, fractions, stories, items, gear, trade items. Just the same repetitive fraction quests.

I have not been to the core yet but I can imagine what is going to be there. The same copy paste worlds, races, fractions and items.

You can travel to the Core the long way by way of warp through black holes and multiple warps. or by completing the Atlas story quest (requires 16 warps to Atlas Stations). At the end of the Atlas Quest or long way, just before warping through the galactic core - to minimize damage to items, * pack any Exosuit tech * pack any Starship tech * swap to an Multitool that is stripped down. Basic tech will not get damaged. When you land on a planet in new galaxy, you can resinstall your packed tech and swap back to your usual Multi-Tool.

Every galaxy will contain different planets, due to procedural algorithms. There are some who even warp through all 255 galaxies and place a base in each galaxy!

It's a waste of time to pack up anything but exosuit tech,
Just use a throw away ship for the jump like you do with the MT... you just have to install an indium drive

Yes I have a spare ship from my fleet of starships just for the jump! You may need to install cadmium, emeril, and indium drives for some galaxies. Keep them packed until one is needed.

Personally, I do the galaxy jumps from my freighter bridge.

Freighter technology is not affected by the galaxy jump, but your active ship down in the hangar still takes the hit. Doing it via the freighter lets you do it with an active ship that isn't even functional...i.e. you don't have to have any drive installed if you don't want.

you can get all the glyphs fairly easily by visiting stations and talking to the weird looking translucent guys if they are at that station for coords to their graves and once gotten all 16 glyphs you can get very near the core like 5000 distance by putting in only the first glyph in all the slots of the address at any portal in any galaxy

that's a good trick

The term is NOT copy paste, it is procedurally generated. It is the drawback to sandbox games like this as compared to hand built worlds but that is the kind of game this is. Some folks only see the big picture so for them everything looks the same and it's a game breaker. Others see the smaller differences and have a different mindset. Group number one lasts 30-100 hours, the others, much longer. Everyone is different which is good and lots of games to choose from. You might come back in a year and have a totally different experience.

Though repair kits work you have to have them... it's the same with using a living ship, lots of weird bits to repair. Best to just have a more vanilla ship, stripped. Same with gun, and put your suit tech in storage. If you decide to go to all the galaxies you will find a mode that works for you. Ck the wiki you will see that indeed there are not a lot of differences in galaxies. Would be cool though.

Which is odd because I thought I saw a post of someone showing his destroyed freighter after he entered the galaxy core.

Wait how do you even jump to other galaxies? I thought that can only be done via Atlas?

you can only jump galaxies via the atlas once, as part of a story mission
normally it is done by reaching the galaxy core
