Random gifting at Anomaly
A player filled my inventory with full stacks of the most expensive stuff in the game valued at hundreds of millions. My question is, did they cheat to get this stuff?

Also while it's "nice" of them to give me this stuff it does kinda feel like it invalidates the journey to be just given massive quantities of stuff. Yes I could delete all this stuff it seems weird to me that there's an area in the game you can go where you'll be laden with everything anybody could ever need against your will.

Likely an end game player that was clearing inventory or playing Santa clause.
Generating stacks of high end wares is fairly easy once you have the blueprints and an established farming base, then money is no problem until you hit the cap.
They may not have done anything sketchy to get it, but there is "supposedly" a dup factor in giving another player stuff so they end up with more. In any case, it is an annoying feature. Your only workarounds right now is to drop the items from you inventory or just always turn off MP before going in the Anomaly.

You will see players just hanging around in the Anomaly looking for free gifts. I think it would ruin your game, but it is a personal choice.

Odds are they used a save editor to get the items, it's quite easy to do. You can discard them if you'd like to, but honestly credits are so easy and boring to farm that I'd just take it as a blessing. It'll save you a good chunk of time and sanity.

If it were nanites though, I'd definitely feel dirty about it since that kinda just demolishes the natural progression.

Yeah I'm just gonna keep the cash because I'm not really a fan of grinding and this game is like 90% fetch quests and grinding.
You cannot cheat in a game that freely allows you to turn off difficulty settings and resource costs.

That said, they may or may not have used a save editor to acquire the resources. Impossible to say.

It literally doesn't matter though, either keep it, sell it, re-gift it or delete it. Up to you.

That is a hot take. Definitely not true for everyone.
A player can entirely play without grind.
The fetching.. well, that is part of progression.
The only thing I would like to add is: Consent. If people who gift to others asked if anybody needed resources first, and made it a more friendly experience. There is even a set of couches in the landing bay of the nexus that would be an ideal spot for ppl who want to meet and greet. Some ppl like freebies, others find it ruins their experience and achievements.
Just ask and be polite.

Ooh, imagine HG devs added a handout tree on the spacestations/anomaly
that gives free things. Similar to the free inventory expansion cell, the guild
or those 2 traveler entities on the anomaly. Not to mention all the free things
laying up for grabs in every space station.

Currency doesn't matter too much, it doesn't dictate what you'll discover.
And this game is about discovery (imo).
To be perfectly honest being rich isn't much of an issue, upgrade your ship's capacity a bit- oh look you're broke again. But now you can carry like 10 slots more of stuff.

if you can bounce it back fast enough they usually get the msg and stop or you could just delete it all or you could enjoy the freebies?

I actually only noticed the gift by the time I left. I decided to just enjoy the freebies, I don't really enjoy grinding anyways and it's nice to get to the fun bits faster.

People should ask if other players want stuff. I dont want anyones stuff what so ever under any circumstances.

If it's stasis injectors/fusion ignitors, those are easy to make... once you've set up resource extractor bases on almost every resouce type. So it takes a lot of time to set up but then it's infinite money basically. Most annoying thing on survival difficulty is actually getting condensed carbon cause you need a lot of it and refining on survival is annoying due to 250 stack limit.

Just toss it, if you don't need it. Money has little value to some point.
They made alot of items easier to get, so need to grind money to buy slot upgrades isn't as needed.
Getting missions going, so inventory slots start popping up frequently can be abit of a grind... so starting cash to buy early on isn't bad.
Honestly.. its not hard to make money in NMS.

But ya, I tend to just toss items given... seen a few you get via save edits passed around.. not sure why they bother.

its weird that the developers dont put a toggle to turn off gifts like there is a toggle to turn off pvp
