My partner and I appreciated that the Worlds was tied into the universe by a canon event, so to say. NMS is structured as relatively linear progression, It makes the game more complete to extend that narrative progression in any way.

They also cleverly engineered the inclusion of new worlds into the game in such a way that they do not take the experience of the universe without those worlds away from new players.

Although, it turned the grass green at Blue Ocean Bay, which is a bit of a bummer because the hillside used to be carpeted with the most striking blue, matching the water of the bay, and the vast ocean beyond it. A thing that changes the grass color on a discovered planet would be fun.
