Abandon Mode - How to use multi-tool expansion slot ???
So I have a LOT of these multi-tool expansion slots i've picked up playing in Abandoned mode, but so far am unable to figure out where, if at all, these can be applied, since there is no multi-tool vendors.

That's the neat thing. You don't. Same goes with Ship inventory.
I do like how some things are straight up not available in abandoned mode, but I feel like there should be a path to eventually earn things like extra slots, even if it isn't conventional.

And a frieghter, unless you can get one already.

Problem with a freighter is you kinda need a crew to operate one. We should be able to at least get one of the ones that the Sentinals use like we did with the ships.

Or restore a derelict

Maybe, but they did allow the use exosuit expansions, which can be used at any drop pod. Similarly, I think they should allow the multi-tool expansions to be used at any MT Case.

You could try to find a manufacturing facility, they also give you an option to install a mt slot and possible multiple if you have expansion modules.

no doubt.

At least as far as technology blueprints and upgrades, a true abandon mode should just be a redo of the original version of NMS, with all the newer graphics and dissonant planets. In that version the tech was located on planets instead of being purchased from 4 added terminals (which IMO kinda kills the immersion of the abandon mode). I would love to see HG remove all units, nanites and any sort of purchasing from abandoned mode, and just let us find the tech and upgrade on planets again.
I did the expedition from my abandoned save, put my storage augments and multitool expansions into the console, made sure I scanned lots of fauna and whatever else was giving me nanites in the expedition so that when I could call the anomaly I could copy my ship and tool to apply the augments ready to send those back to the abandoned save. I did cheese things a bit by also making sure I bought three engine upgrades for Nautilon, nomad and minotaur, plus a couple for the nomad laser

Unfortunately, the manufacturing facility only gives you an upgrade unit that you can use on a space station. The space station is still the only place you can install ship expansion. And, the space station and anomaly are the only places to install the multitool expansion

I heard you can still call the anomaly (I have not verified), which would give you one possible work around of starting an expedition from the anomaly of an abandoned save. When you get suit slot, ship slot or multitool expansion slot as a reward, it offers you a chance to install immediately. Also, the anomaly should allow you to install the multitool expansion at any point.

An expedition started from an abandoned mode save is exactly the same as from a normal save, so if you want to keep it 'clean' you can just copy the tool and ship from the abandoned mode save, apply any legitimately obtained slots you brought from the abandoned save to those, at a space station, and just make sure those, in that state, are the active ones before finishing the expedition and returning to the main save.

I took exocraft engine upgredes back because there is no legitimate way to get those in abandoned mode, but without them, in my view, the exocraft are barely worth building.

I believe I saw elsewhere that the OP isn't using the Anomaly for their Abandoned run, as I don't either because there are already several "easy modes" for NMS, and the Anomaly is certainly an "easy button" in several ways.
OP: Keep looking for tools on the planets and you'll find one with a good number of slots eventually, just not one you can mirror on other game modes.
If the OP is playing without the anomaly then two found multitool, each geared to specialise in scanning/mining or combat with choice of two weapons might be best option. That was what I did with two A class tools I found until I managed to open more slots via the expedition. I still haven't found an S class one, but have not tried reloading when I have found one with decent slots. I don't mind spending time harvesting materials to open up broken slots - same with ships if they are A class.

Adrift expedition (which is what abandoned mode is, just without being an expedition) had a freighter without a crew. Anomalous (like ship of the damned firgate) or AI-operated freigher would be nice. Maybe an ability to seize sentinel capital ship? Or even a living one? Living ships are obtainable in abandoned mode.

Good to know about the exosuit expansions.
