Flight assist override is a joke
I never really cared for the space ship part of this game but i saw that module and read the description on it i thought to myself there is no way this game has FA-off like elite! well as the old saying goes i expected nothing and i was still disappointed, my ship still stops itself just like it did before. but what i wouldn't give for a true version of this module! if i spin my ship it should NOT stop spinning until i apply the counter thrust same with pitch, yaw and thrust! would it be so bad to have an improved version available as an option?

I can offer nothing except this gave me a real good chuckle, so thanks!

Are you talking about inertial dampeners?

Both Space Engineers and Empyrion have an option to turn them off.... but you only really ever switch it off in those games to save fuel.... because they don't have a pulse drive, but do have a speed limit which is very slow, which makes you rage quit and come play NMS!!

It is not a space flight simulator, which is the main reason those controls are not in the game.
I noticed this too and thought I was imagining it. It seems like the space and ship combat is meant to be super easy
Indeed combat is meant to be easy. All you need is the infra-knife. NMS is this way with a lot of stuff. (Notice the name does not include the word Elete anywhere) Folks ask for something, MP is a perfect example, they put it together with digital spit, baling wire and duct tape, push it out and call it done. Check off that box. And in fact it's good enough for most of us for a lot of years. It's a sandbox game but the shovels are pretty rudimentary so if you are looking more, well, good luck with that.

you realise your talking about a game that has space and flight in it right? there's always one isn't there. i bet when people asked for iron man mode, survival mode, and everything else that's been added there was an idiot just like you saying "its not that kind of game" well you tell me Why cant it be?

While I somewhat agree to both, it does lack some of the physics to be a true flight sim,
KPS and another which I can't remember ATM, is as close as real flight physics your going to get. There maybe others I don't know of. Establishing orbital flight comes to mind.

I have many hours into Space Engineers and Empyrion, a few hours in KSP. I enjoy them all
including NMS for their content. Some of the expectations I have read exceed the limitations
of the game engine or that of the developers vision.

All of the above qualify as a space sim even though lacking some of the physics
which we know of.

I also would like to see inertial dampeners in NMS. Combat will be more enjoyable, more immersive.

Yeah there is always one more, and you're one of them. Read the forums, there are constant complaints about every one of the features you mentioned being far too easy, chump modes that have no merit, shouldn't even exist without <insert your idiotic requirement here>, etc.
The point is - if you don't like the game then don't play it ffs. Holy crap you whining little dorks. It's fine to not like it. It's even fine to suggest additions and submit them to zendesk. But, to sit there and type up a diatribe about how much it sucks? What kind of response do you expect?

From what I can tell, all the module's unique feature does is allow "power sliding" with your starship (I guess it just nerfs the lateral thrust a bit..?). Other than that, it is quite handy for getting a nice cluster of modules going on top of a raw bonus to up other aspects of your maneuverability. Seems great if you like going places quicker, but less great for "threading the needle" when you are at said places, if that happens to be needed.

did i say i dont like the game? did i say it sucks? did i even say i play for the space sim aspect. maybe you should try reading posts before emotionally lashing out at the titles. and i am sorry i forget some people are.. "built different" and don't interpenetrate such things the way they are intended. :)
I love how people act like space flight in a game isn't scientific enough or doesn't follow physics right. In reality you can't dog-fight in space. At. All. Even with imaginary unlimited power and thrust. Physics isn't fun (I mean, it is, just not in the context of space flight rules). Just let it be fun.

thats the thing i can power slide just the same without it. i really dont understand who its supposed to be for youd think from reading its description people like me who would love just a little bit of that elite dangerous FA-off space flight experience. and the worst part is without lats i bet it would be better! it would certainly be more intuitive and it would be so easy too! just make it set the strength of whatever in game mechanic passively stops your ship when your release the controls, to zero! instant best space sim

And i love how people have to put word in my mouth in order to have something to argue with. I never said any of that in fact i think the physics in the game are just fine! it definitely feels like the thruster push me forward and spin me around, and that the flight assist automatically counters that to stabilise the ship. id just like the module they added to the game that claims to turn that off... to turn that off! instead of do literally nothing.

There's a mod that supposedly changes the flight model to something similar to Elite's.
