Frame Rate Tanks Upon Editing Settings or ALT+Tabbing.
Title is self explanatory, this has been an issue for a long time and still hasn't been fixed with Worlds Pt. II.

Game runs buttery smooth, but once you edit the graphical settings, frame rate tanks HARD.
This also happens when you ALT+Tab out and back into the game, FPS will be halved or even quartered.

Sometimes these issues work themselves out, but most of the time I have to restart the game. Which gets really annoying when you tab out to check the NMS wiki, just to tab back in and be stuck in a power-point presentation formerly known as your game.

SPECS:
GeForce RTX 4060ti
Intel i7 14700f
32Gb DDR5

same here

Try opening the Steam overlay before alt-tabbing out. For me it helps in 9 out of 10 times that the fps will not drop alt-tabbing back to nms. Also it seems the fps drop is more likely to occur when you klick the nms task in the task bar rather than alt-tabbing back. At least thats how I experienced that.

When I change graphics settings I have to restart the game 99 % of the time which makes testing annoying.

Have you tried using the Windows key instead of Alt-tab?
cambiar el juego a modo ventana completa soluciono el problema.
no jugar mas de 2 horas, también ayuda
los ordenadores-consolas, también sufren fatiga.

I might be misunderstanding because I speak cheeseburger, but it's not fatigue, it's a memory leak, and it requires fixing.

same issues, same GPU (4060ti).

For me, FPS also tanks *once in a while*, upon approach to a planet with any new/worlds 2 related content. Alt-tabbing doesn't really do it, but changing settings absolutely kills the fps.

Rebooting always restores FPS to my locked rate of 90.
Changing settings sometimes kills the performance, I've also noticed this as have others. 30 fps or below.

One thing I thought about is disabling Nvidia background FPS restriction for NMS, this may fix the issue.
this has been a long time issue and they havent addressed it.

It usually helps to wait a little bit and it goes away.
Experienced that on a 2 GB videocard, switched to 8 Gb and it never happened again.

Usually tabbing back in fixes the issue. My aspect ratio is 32:9.
