That being said, it isn't a far leap to imagine that the sentinel cataclysm is a fairly recent event at some level, and as a result many of the automated systems have continued on trading and doing for their now-deceased masters? Maybe I too am overthinking things-
YOU'RE A LEGEND I THOUGHT THE SAME THING.
An abandoned means that there is no one sentient left so everything that is there is yours!
But here evidently since the sentinels are mechanical they are not believed to be sentient, but they still have the intelligence to shoot you ahahaha.
Your comment is beautiful, maybe HG should have clearer ideas on some things. and not just FOMO.
So the Gek, Korvax and Vy'keen were supposed to wipe their pricing databases before being wiped out? It's called Abandoned mode, not Never Populated mode.
The races wiping their databases before being wiped out? No, again. But if its truly an abandoned universe, prices listed or not, you should be able to just help yourself to whatever you find and if need be, repair it like a crashed ship if damaged/aged.
And I think that's my point. Or at least part of it. It's just re-creating Creative mode, or trying to. HG should have just taken another step with it and make the leap to have/make a truly Abandoned universe from the other 256. With all the infinite realities falling apart, the has to be a few that end up that way.
ps . i like to believe that ill find artemis somewhere ;)
The systems are computerized, you could only help yourself if they were just lying out in crates.
The game states that the universe is void of "Alien" lifeforms. Not void of sentient life. This allows the presence of sentinels. Now, your discussion would make more since if you were asking if there are no "Alien" life forms, why are their still animals?
If your interested in learning more about Abandoned Mode, feel free to check my YT for more info.
So, to answer all of these questions (I didn't see the thread until today):
1). How do you know the Sentinels committed genocide? That doesn't explain the empty stations, and even the empty anomaly since Sentinels can't go there.
2). The stock transfer thingies are computers that still hold credits unclaimed. When you find one and activate it, you transfer these units to yourself (they really should have these locked with a password lol)
3). Computers are programmed to give you goods in exchange for units. They are an automated buying and selling trading system, that is updated by the life-forms who manage them. Did you notice when you access the shop UI where the economy % would normally be listed, it says like "ERROR" and "DATA UNAVAILABLE"? This is because there's no life-forms to update what they want to adjust the prices for.
In the end, Abandoned Mode is more for making the player explore and work for his stuff.
I have about 12 hours into an Abandoned Mode save, and I feel a sense of accomplishment as I have an A-Rank tool, a B-Rank ship, and several A and S rank mods, including two S-Rank Mining Beam mods.
It's a bit more fun than going to the space station and just buying 3 S-Rank mods once you find a station selling the kind you want.
