Are Living ship upgrades useless now?

I attempted to use one of my old living ships that had been fully upgraded with all S class modules only to discover every system is now overloaded.
I removed upgrades until no overload is indicated then obtained new upgrades and attempted to repair the lost stats, but adding new upgrades overloads the system again???
Singularity Cortex, Scream Suppressor,& Spewing Vents all overload even when attempting to install upgrades from the Install Technology menu.

How long has it been since you played? I remember there being a time when you could stuff as many upgrades as you could fit, but for a LONG time now they fixed that so any more than THREE will cause an overload, they way it was always intended. You can mix and match them all day long (ie.- two S and one X; an S an A and a C; etc.), but you cannot install more than three at a time.

I haven't used a living ship for several updates, I know stuff has changed but I can not even put one upgrade on the Singularity Cortex, Scream Suppressor,& Spewing Vents without overloading.

There's a button on the far left next to that little stack of sac venom indicating that more tech slots are available to you but not presently visible on screen. Can you scroll down?

How did you mamage to get the S-class upgrades. Right now, i only get B and C, sometimes an A. Is there another way to obtain them other than frigate-missions with living frigates?

Once you install an upgrade module, you can upgrade it in-place with nanites. Mouse-over it and read the description. All modules can be upgraded to S-Class.

Worked beautifully, thank you! What are these two upgrades in the middle of the first row? Never seen these before.

One is the yellow starship contrail. The other is the Atlas Bobblehead which gives a 50ly boost to warp distance (and looks neat). Buy both the blueprints with Quicksilver.

I had not scrolled to find the 3 rows of upgrades that were causing the issue.
Since I usually only play when there is a new content/expedition I had not seen the expand tech/inventory tabs.
