Word on the street is the dig a hole idea only works now if you dig down pretty deep and take a left or right at the bottom. Apparently they can now see down the hole if it does not have a jag in it.
Can't use the spacebar drive because Sentinel ships appear the moment I get in mine; cannot outrun them and even if I could stay ahead of them, there is no way I'm flying in a straight line for an hour because I can't use the fast/spacebar engines. So I can't get to a POI, space station, or my base.
Digging does not seem to work.
When you destroy the current wave of sentinels, you're given a brief moment to run away. The confusing bit is this alone will not allow you to escape a sentinel alert. There is nothing you can do to prevent the next wave from coming, they will come regardless.
Once the next wave appears, another countdown should immediately start counting down if you're not immediately within their sight when they spawn. If they do spot you, you either have to run away or fight the next wave. There's no logic to the direction they spawn, they could magically spawn right in front of you, stupid I know.
Continuing to remain out of sight until the countdown reaches zero should end the alert. You should be able to stay out of sight easily using hills and other objects as cover, no need to dig a hole, which if I'm reading what others are saying, no longer works well? The sentinels vision distance isn't very far, so even if they spawn in front of you if you're quick enough you should be able to retreat fast enough.
Also, whatever you do, never fly into space during an alert as you previously did. The sentinels in space automatically track you and are damn near impossible to evade.
I've seen it before, just run away and wait it out. But, now I never get any countdown; I see the alert level on the top right of the hud, and I can see the sentinels which often are 2,000 clicks away - nowhere near me. The 'searching' countdown never starts.
I'm hoping a load might fix it, but I'm aggravated and decided to clean the house instead of play tonight...
To the point I'm making watch the minute of this.. I've got one red sentinel alert that followed me from the planet I had just returned from. Now in the video, I'm going back, but the glitched out alert will not go away. Had to install the cloaking device mid couch trip.

These unshakable sentinel nags are a well known issue when a new Expedition or new content arises. Thing just break, The cloaking device was beat over my head by several users here and I didn't want to install one bug to rid myself of another but. (Other bug ~ Cloaking sound will ramp and not go away unless you hold the cloak long enough or change sound stage ie jump in your ship).
On controller, default is both RB and LB held. I mapped the controller's face button "B" pressed to Pulse.
I manage to pull this off on alert level 1.
Different planet, different star system neither matters. theres no timer. the amount of stars doesnt increase either.
After a few minutes on any planet the same 4 sentinals show up. Like if you stay on the same planet you can watch them coming after you from half the planet away. the "stars" never reduce.
the solution was reboot the game.
from there the sentinals were normal. you piss them off, and run away and whoop the count begins. You hide and they become docike again.
If your ship was accessible, why didn't you just hop up to the Station or Anomaly?
