When do we get humanoid NPC enemies?
Using the races already existing in game, all of the graphical information is already in game. You have species based popularity ratings, so as your popularity drops with a particular species they could reach the point of attacking you on sight. The innocent strandeds needing your help, could fight back. When you chase an outlaw into a planets atmosphere the battle could continue on foot. I believe humanoid npc enemies would add the gameplay variation this game is missing. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure the answer is never.
yep i think that would bring more life in the game not only fight alien animals or robot police ^^

I don't know what European ratings are, but I've heard a few mentions about human like enemies would bump them up into a more restrictive rating, which HG obviously doesn't want.

I don't know if that's entirely true, but it's been brought up a couple times. I've honestly never cared enough to look. I'm an old retired guy who likes gory horror movies & death metal. I'll shoot whatever.

Agreed.

I for one, like not shooting people.
I think the game is fine but combat is not Hello Games strong point.

I'd say it's their weakest one.

My running theory is that all these updates are part of the new engine they're going to be using for Light No Fire and as they implement more things into that game, more of those systems will trickle into No Man's Sky.

If Light No Fire uses humanoid enemies and it's working well, then I think we'll see it implemented into NMS eventually.

Oh, I'm not generally opposed. I just think that
a) it doesn't really fit the story and
b) it would be too much development effort

You're judging an entire studio based on one game, which is ridiculous.

This game isn't a combat game, why would they spend a lot of time on it?

That's like seeing a Mercedes race car & thinking that company just doesn't know how to haul heavy loads, when they have entire lines of trucks.

As a former (musical) artist, I'd be pissed as hell if I made an ambient record & some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the internet said it didn't have a heavy enough beat, so I must not know how to put 4 on the floor. Actually I wouldn't be pissed, I've long since stopped giving a ♥♥♥♥ about other people's opinions. At least getting old has one perk. The point, however, stands.

With LNF, we have a trailer that may or may not be any level of gameplay. We have very actual info at all on it, which is fine. But automatically thinking it's going to be anything like NMS or use anything from NMS is asinine at this point.

I usually assume some of the visual art is going to be somewhat similar, since visual artists tend to have their style that can bleed through even in very different projects, but even then. Look at the art in Last Campfire. I don't see any comparisons to NMS, even a little.

Did Thomas Edison get mad when he built the first bicycle & Chuck Norris made fun of him because it didn't have 4 wheels? Of course he did. But privately. You don't let Norris see that ♥♥♥♥.

super great tangent there, but, hello games did actually say everything they are doing for nms is going into light no fire. they stated that all their new tech, systems, and improvements is not only going into it, but helps them improve nms along the way.

I've heard nothing of the sort. I didn't watch the W2 launch video, but other than that, I've seen nothing stating that at all.

the fact that you havent doesnt make it false. it wasnt in the videos but in a statement made in a previous patch or announcement. i know it wasnt the videos cause i never watch them.

The fact that I haven't only means I expect some sort of proof with that sort of statement.

I had this conversation a month or 2 ago with someone else who had a lot of big talk & absolutely no proof to back up a single statement.

IDK what your issue with me is but maybe you should take a break from the internet. Everything I've posted today has you barking at me. I'm just giving my opinions and asking questions. I don't understand why you're reacting so hostile to everything.

I wrote that before watching the new W2 Deep Dive that HG put out. They basically confirmed what I theorized.

Just because you don't have the information doesn't mean the information doesn't exist.

It's literally stated in the news post:
The team is extremely busy on Light No Fire (wishlist it here!). Each time we push our engine to new places though we have this urge to share it with the community, with No Man’s Sky.

Last response to you. I blocked you after your last data mining thread. I haven't 'barked' once at you. I called your threads out for what they were, that's not 'barking'.

If there's proof, show it. I will be more than happy to accept anything directly from HG confirming these claims. Everything I've seen is pure conjecture. I'd love to see actual proof, directly from HG, not what ever website you write for or have AI write for you.

You're reading between some lines with that one. There's no other mention of it in that article either.

I'm out. You guys just want to argue over conjecture. Believe what you like.
