I'm in Love with the New Abandoned Game Mode : Thanks Hello Games!!!
I've pitched a few hard start ideas to Hello Games over the years, and I'm super happy with what they've added with the Abandoned mode.

I have at least 8,000 hours in NMS and have done it all, more than once, so Abandoned mode is like starting NMS all over again... ....especially how I'm approaching it.
How am I approaching it you ask?

NMS Abandoned and No Anomaly.
That's right, on this game save, no Anomaly, ever.

I'm just over 12 hours into, on the 3rd go as I got my details ironed out the way I wanted.
It really does feel much like I remember way back when I first started playing the game, but even harder. I couldn't have asked for more than that, and certainly didn't expect it.

Thanks again HG!

Bro. I mean this in the most polite way possible ..... please go outside and get some air. This actually frightens me. OMFG

I really don't understand how a brain of some individuals work... how a missing feature make a game more enjoyable. How is it a challenge? It don't add anything new to a game. If you don't like the Anomaly, then don't summon it.

If you are bored with a game, i have a hint. Become a game hopper. Don't play one game for 8000 hours, play 8 games for 1000 hours and you never get bored.

he does go outside... on many worlds. worlds that would make most tremble in fear... he eats things that would make billy goats puke...

They should have put a bit more thought into it.
I really like collecting and building ships and both are not possible in Abandoned mode. This makes me sad.

I'm good with my time. I'm outside 365 days of every year, cycling, hiking, backpacking, skiing, running, or just walking my dogs. Telling me to go outside is hilarious. ...but you don't know me at all, so I get it.

Where would the ships come from if the systems are abandoned?

You can build ships, the ones you find that crashed. It takes effort... a lot more effort, which is the point.

To me it makes sense, but share how you think it would be better.

As you said, there are crashed ships. So I don't get that point.

What's missing is the ship building station. Since that is automated anyway, it could as well be a part of some abandoned space stations.

I'm not sure what there is to explain about wanting ship building to be available.

Not to be rude, but i dont get the point of this Game Mode.
I would like to know why you enjoy it so much because i have been thinking of making a new run, and maybe ill try it out.

Thanks for any info.

Now that I think about it, the ship building station should be damaged so that you have to repair it first. That would fit even better in the "abandoned station" narrative.

It's for when you actually want to feel alone in the galaxy.

If you don't, it's not for you.

But what to do? No Npc's means no quests, trade, stations, pets, or organic life right?
I still dont get it :steammocking:

I wasn't in the meetings when they decided to employ the original bare bones style of abandoned space stations, so I don't know why they chose them. Perhaps they'll change that in an update. That would make finding a better multi-tool far easier, too.

For my game play it's good as is, but can certainly see the value for those interested in modifying ships.
I'm simply very careful as to which crashed ships I'll pick up, and stick with the starter ship for as long as needed. On my second go at this I found a great heavy fighter, but on my current save RNG hasn't been as kind, but also I'm not focused on ships quite yet.

Only NPCs are missing. Pets and fauna are the same.

'Quests' and 'trade' are superficial anyway.

All the wildlife are still on the planets. No NPCs. If you're into finding planets, and setting up a base in every galaxy (which is what I'm doing) then nothing about that is diminished with this game mode. It offers a new, and harder way to get that done. It's a challenge.
OP, this sounds interesting. I have been tempted to start this mode but confused a bit as to what tech is available if you if don't use the anomaly? Can you still get the fishing tool and things like the nutrient injector?
