New Update
I have to be honest. These new big updates are a little strange. They come, download, I watch a fancy video of these wonderful looking planets with great mountain and seas, I play...

And I get the same, boring looking planets, with the same very boring sea's. I've just jumped to 7 new systems after the latest update and all plats look the same and all seas are like puddles .

I honestly think i'm playing a different game to the one Hello games play on the update videos hahaha

It's a big game. New content isn't just stuffed in your feed bag.
Try just searching the purple stars. I used to think 80-100u was deep for water, now I'm going down past 1300u on some planets and I've seen others write they've found deeper than that. Also have encountered some really gorgeous mountain vistas in purple stars, you just have to get out there and take a longer look you'll find them!

I'm not 100% on this but maybe the new content applies only to the new star type??
Would be a shame, the terrain texture part was quite nice.

Thats because the new planets are only located in purple systems. People complained their planets change so now we have to jump through hoops to get better planets.
You have to complete the autophage story mission to access the mission that unlocks the new star systems, which contain the new planet types... It's "end-game" content...

Atlantid Drive, did you install it on your ship and enter the system that made it possible?
It's so stupid that these new (objectively better and more varied) planets are exclusive to Purple stars.
So, what, I'm supposed to just ignore 99.9% of the universe if I want to engage with Worlds Part 2 planets?

Just because someone adds different flavored cookies to your plate does not mean you have to ignore the cookies that were already there. The new planets aren't "objectively better and more varied"- they are just different. Just like extreme planets are different from paradise planets. Personally, I tire quickly of constant storms and like my blissful home world after a dose of that. I enjoy stormy planets, but not as a constant diet.

So don't ignore the cookies on your plate, just try out the new cookies and keep being a cookie monster.
the universe is packed with the new purple stars, not hard to find at all. but they didn't show up in my save until i did the quest and built my own new system, then they got added to the galaxy map and are everywhere.

Even the shallow oceans look completely different now. And the first planet I visited already had an average water depth of 80+ units, which was pretty rare before this update.
Not to mention the new sea creatures. I thought those seahorses with wings looked really cool.
