"EndGame" content
Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but the worlds part 2 is intended as endgame content, and as such you must complete Atlas and Autophage questlines to access? If so, for all the folks buying the game for the first time while it is on sale, will have no access to the majority of the update, except of course the graphical stuff for hours or days if not weeks? Is there a disclaimer on the steam page about this?

I would love to see the refund numbers for the next 2 or 3 weeks when people see they cant just go to a purple planet....

To the new player, EVERYTHING is new.

The only players this affects are veteran players creating new saves, and yes it's a little annoying, but eh. Whatever. I spent about 8 hours clearing Artemis and Atlas Path missions, though sadly I ran into a roadblock trying to get Trace of Metal out of my quest log so that sentinels would quit constantly attacking my settlement every time I go there.

And with Trace of Metal stuck on the brain part, every time I pulse jump and find something, it's the Atlas Beacon, so anything else I need to pulse jump to find... probably won't happen until they fix the softlock bug.

Oh well.

This update will be around this week, next week, and any week thereafter. I can wait. My steam library is like 500 games big.
If this were really an issue EVERY SINGLE GAME would require it, it's called "Progression"

As Claptrap put it in one of the Borderlands Games, I think 2.

Your Ability to move forward without dying will surely be your key to Victory!

Every MMO FEATURES this aspect, you bust your butt to get the Really fancy Good stuff, see the endgame & they charge A Subscription!

You may not even be ABLE to see the endgame stuff in those Games if you don't pay enough, play enough, well enough, often enough, WITH the right Random PUG or group of like-minded basement dwellers.

Here, you have nothing but time, the Last Quest even Says so when you complete it!

I'm sorry, I really don't want to be A jerk, it's just saddening when Mario Brothers 3 & Jaws on NES would need A Warning Label outside of "May Cause Thumb Clausus" for anyone today.

Look, I dont fundamentally disagree with you, my issue is strictly with the marketing. I said above, I would love to see refund numbers in the next few weeks when folks realize they cant just warp to the pretty purple planet that was advertised when they bought it. Most will go over the time limit before they realize it. Maybe, this time, in this game, they shouldn't have gated content. Just my opinion tho.

Obviously, creature pellets need to go up in price... a lot!

Then maybe the trolls around here wouldn't be so well fed :steamsalty:

People who buy No Man's Sky get No Man's Sky.
World Part II is just one of many updates that are included in the game.

Any interested buyer who looks at the shop page, can see all trailers from previous updates as well. The latest trailers are just listed first (yes, that is a common marketing tactic, so everyone can see there is something new).

How would you advertise the game?

That's part of what's making this so weird to me, I literally paid for WoW for the first 5 years it was out, Phantasy Star Online & alot of others.

But with this game I'm seeing people having an issue with the same thing, but there's no subscription or constant online needs.

How is it Blizzard & EVERY MMO manages to get A pass on "Gated content" for decades & now people are having an issue with it in their games?

Even games like Outer Worlds, Same thing, you can't even Get some of the really oddball fun weapons & such, the Murder Mystery Missions on an Asteroid & more without doing the same hoop jumps or already having played it up to that point & ready for the next addon.

Again, not trying to be A jerk, just wondering what is it with this one that gets some people's goat?

you seem more on the tolerable end of this, so understand please this is more for the folks who are foaming at the mouth & furious looking for bash material to fuel further Mouth Foaming.

This is a good question, obviously, labeling this as endgame content would hinder new player sales. My suggestion would be to not gate content period, at least not with old missions. Has HG ever really gated anything before? I can't think of an example. Sure, there is natural gating, gotta be in a place to install tech etc, but this requires players to do other missions to access new content. As of this moment, there is a bug not even allowing progress on Trace of Metal, required BTW to get to new system. For me this could have just been done better without the whole "Gating" issue.
Yeah you need to play the game for a whopping 10 hours to get access to the content, crazy.
Its actually mentioned as 'end game' content and 'only the most advanced Travelers' will be able to survive some places newly added in the trailers.

Games have and will no doubt continue to show new content/DLCs/mission packs, etc. that are geared towards their respective end game players, both single player and multiplayer games.

For example when Valheim had the Ashlands added recently I would argue no one, old player or new, thought they would be able to pop right over there and explore.

And as far as the implementation of the new terrain/biomes etc I agree with many others that we got the best compromise when they concentrated most of the new changes to new star systems while leaving the existing ones relatively untouched. Or does everyone forget the uproar there was the last time existing worlds were touched; Mah base, mah base!

It is so interesting there are people complaining about this when people have historically complained about not having any 'goals' or 'end game' to work towards and through.

When I have to actually play a video game to access its content

I certianly don't take it that way. I am always happy to have a decent convo. IMO, the gating thing has never really been done before in NMS, full sandbox that you can do anything you want in, explore, build, pirate. Now all the sudden, this content is "endgame" so it has to be gated by missions that by many accounts in this forum are currently softlocked. Trace of Metal, for reference. Basically it seems to me that it's silly to tell your players for years, you can do anything, but now they say, unless you did this, you can't do that. My suspicion is they are experimenting with this for use in LNF at a later date, but NMS has always been about doing stuff at your own leisure and pace, and just now after all this time, gated.

Whats the goal now? Go see a new planet type? Same as everything else is, see it once you are done. This isn't endgame content, it's just a new planet type, well 2 with ocean worlds. The point is, if this is the best they got at "endgame" then they should just drop LNF. The argument here i'm making, is this shouldn't be gated content in any way, and it certianly is not endgame.

The new biomes are supposed to be more dangerous and require more preparation IE you kinda need a nautilon to explore deep oceans.

But yeah the artemis + atlas requirement is annoying.

That being said, are there workarounds like giving the warp drive tech to a fresh save player and have them teleport to your purple system or something like that ? (too lazy to try myself)
