anyone found Gas Giants yet ?
I've been flying through both purple and normal systems, and so far have found neither a gas giant nor a water world. Am I missing something or do I just have to keep trying?

Wow. Don't tell me they added something that is ACTUALLY rare…

Depending on galaxy gas giants can be exeptionaly rare. It helps to look closely at systems on galaxy map - gas giant will be bigger than star(found only one after checking about 40 systems and 20-25 blind jumps before). Obliviously i checked only new purple systems.

did you do the quest to unlock them?
Kestrel Jan 30 @ 1:53am
it'll say "gas giant" when you hover over a purple system. you don't need to visit the system to check for it.

they're not super common but you should find one in 1-2 minutes of hovering over purple stars near you.

you have to unlock them by doing the quest tho. otherwise you'll never find one.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ actually do say "gas giant" in system tool tip. So there weren't any need in close look to compare planet and star size >_<

Are both, gas giants AND water worlds limited to purple systems?
I guess I could read the update notes again…

Well i found them only there, so there is really high chance they are exclusive to purple type systems.

Had the option to create a titan planet for the quest, that one gave me a gas giant. Not sure if the option is there for everyone.

Pity. I guess the wanted to avoid people whining about ruined planets and bases again.

This is one time offer, who knew that gas gianst actually can be scarse? Obliviously i made beautiful paradise planet(most toxic of all visited planets >_<).
I found one by looking close at the galaxy map. The system had 1 planet with 5 moons, which is unusual. But yeah, they're really rare.

It's so weird that steam even censors the "it", especially when there's a space.

Yessiree, I used the quest to locate a water world, and then later travelled to a gas giant and another water world today.

The Gas Giants literally say 'Gas Giant' before entering the star system, where you would normally see "Water" or "Dissonance". As for the water worlds, I suppose I must have lucked out, but I was able to drop into a system, use my freighter to scan the system, and whadya know, "Marine Planet" was one of the planets.

I'm also finding some others. Found an interesting "Mutating Relic" planet.

One small regret: it seems I can't spawn in my Exocrafts on some of these planets. Woulda been real handy for the gas giant, that's for sure.

Found. Yes, once you know what to look for, it becomes a lot easier.

I know what to look for in a 3 star mining economy, but that doesn't make it any easier to find
