The experimental branch broke my save file so now I am just playing from the backup. I will edit in the dumb Cthulhu some other day when I am not so annoyed.

The experimental beta version is not available for me anymore. Tried all else without success... sux feckin balls tbh.

Will there be another patch soon?? Does anyone know?
Given the new expedition is due this week this one is pretty much a dud

only on experimental and no knowing when that goes live. Almost like they shouldn't make this time limited events and just let us access them whenever.

EXACTLY.

Reading the instructions on that thing looks sketchy too. Relying on two other runtimes and a self-cert that needs to be installed too...?? NAH!

EDIT: Oh and the OTHER save editor mentioned requires installing JAVA. Dude, I am so sick of this kind of crap. Write self-contained programs. People just want to play a damn game, and when a 3rd-party tool is needed, they don't want to also install a pile of other crap to run it.

Hey, for anyone on PC still stuck with this bug. I did the experimental beta and it worked to get me through. The kicker is, it was on my main save file and this was my first time ever not creating a new game for an expedition, too.

When you switch back to the main game, it won't let you load your save because it's from a newer version.

Here's what I did that worked. BEFORE using the experimental beta, I copied my saves for that game, backed them up on my desktop. Then I played the expedition, was able to proceed, beat everything, got all the rewards, saved it multiple times, but did NOT go back out of/END the expedition yet. I flew to a space station and saved there, quit the game, and turned the beta off. Let it update again. Came back in and checked my save, it wouldn't let me load, but that's okay, my account and my other files already updated that I got the expedition rewards.

So, I exited the game, cut out my new two save files, put them in a folder on my desktop (just in case) and then replaced my old save files I previously backed up.

I loaded up the game, went to load my save (no issues) and it put me right where I ended the expedition with all of my rewards and everything complete.

I then ended the expedition and everything worked perfectly as it should. I made sure it saved both manual and auto afterward.

I'm not sure exactly why this worked. But I didn't need to edit any files or use a save editor at all, and I was able to complete the expedition.

I'm not sure what you say you've done here.

Thanks, that's useful. Now to find out if one can bypass the blood drinking ritual and just use the portal glyphs to move the expedition forward.

Yeah I’m playing on console for this game and it’s royally messed up my day. Feels like I wasted hours for nothing.

How does one even USE coordinates in the game?

This worked for me, to maybe clarify these instructions a little: I created a backup of the entire save directory (lets call it Old) before opting into the Experimental build, then I completed the expedition (no issues with portals in the experimental build) and followed the steps outlined in OPs post. I then backed up the whole save directory again to a different folder (lets call it Exp) and opted out of the experimental build. I then replaced the main game save directory with the one from the "Old" folder then grabbed just the two files associated with my save from the "Exp" directory and overwrote them in the main game save directory. At the end of the day your entire save directory should be from before you opted into Experimental build EXCEPT for the 2 files associated with your save in which you completed the expedition. I can now load my save in regular build and I am at the end of the expedition ready to go to the anomaly and turn it in.

The coordinates were obtained by using the Signal Booster.

Ignore the stuff to the left of, and including, the first Colon (:) - thats the scanner id. Everything to the right of that can be converted into glyphs for use at portals via https://nmsportals.github.io/#tab-3 (select Galactic Coordinates).

More info about NMS galactic coordinates can be found here https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Galactic_Coordinates

Tip: Always carry enough materials to build a crude base with a powered teleporter just in case something goes wrong.

Guys, if you're going through what I'm going through. Namely, you used the beta version, via the “3xperimental” code, and after that your save stopped loading because of the newer version - you need to download the NMSSaveEditor save editor from github. When you select the save you want in the first tab, go to EDIT => EDIT RAW JSON. You need to change the version from 4682 to 4679. After that you need to confirm the changes. Next, in the first tab, use the SAVE CHANGES button to change your save. Then you will be able to enter the game under your save.
Perform these actions at your own risk. I was lucky enough to have an older save, so I could look up the version number and compare both JSON files.
I also note that these version numbers are only relevant now. In the next patches or updates, it will not work.

It helped me, I finished the expedition and returned to the main game

Thank you so much! I did not think to back up my save prior to installing the beta, which was admittedly careless, last back up was probably 2 months ago at least. These were the best directions I found to get back my pre-beta save. Life saver!
