I need help. Cant pass throu portal in third system. Elixir of blood not work. Need planet code of 4th system to complete this badge.

Here's a run down of how I ported through Exp16. TLDR read Rendezvous 3.

Exp 16 starts on Vira XIV (Cerulean Planet) in the Miuurai XI system (2 planets and 1 moon). Portal to Rendezvous 1 is, from memory, on Vira XIV.

Rendezvous 1: Arrived at Pembo (a ringed Tropical Planet) in the Ahagil III system (4 planets and 1 moon). Portal to Rendezvous 2 used the same portal on Pembo.

Rendezvous 2: Arrival at Idwo Omega (a ringed Doomed Jade Planet) in the Noyama-Kaus I system. Portal to Rendezvous 3 used the same portal portal on Idwo Omega.

Rendezvous 3: Arrival on Uverm XIX (Arid Planet) in the Oglegk III system (5 planets). This portal was bugged for me, only asking me for coordinates when trying to progress to Rendezvous 4. Moving to the farthest available planet in the system and drinking the Elixir of Quicksilver lead me to a different portal. This portal was on Kobabat I7 (a ringed Cabled Planet), which worked properly.

Rendezvous 4: Arrival on Tawa 34/Z2 (Gamma-Intensive Moon) in the Layant XI system (5 planets and 1 moon). I vaguely recall using the same portal to reach breach 5 as one I arrived at Tawa 34/Z2 by.

Rendezvous 5: Arrival on Paplebon (Stellar Corruption Detected) in the Yuanbai system (6 planets).


My advice is don't drink the Elixir of Quicksilver near the portal you entered the system by (this was where I went wrong). Get some good distance (off planet) and drink it. Oh and absolutely make sure you use the right Elixir of Blood.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

Nope this doesn't work. Once you have used the quicksilver and it has tagged that bugged portal, no matter where you go, drinking another one doesn't reveal another portal. The game just keeps pointing at the same portal.

Thanks for the tip, switching to the beta worked. However, this creates a new problem. If you switch back to the current version, you can no longer use the saved game. This was my main account/save game. Now I get an error message saying that my saved game is not compatible (v4170). What can I do about it? Thanks and best regards

This experimental code immediately resolves the portal exploit issue; however, it also prevents players from accessing the general system and interacting with others. If the system fails to synchronize with version V1470, a significant player exodus is inevitable. A major update causing such numerous issues is not the players' fault.

UPDATED AND FRUSTRATED: Do not do the Experimental steps unless you stay in Experimental until after the expedition is done! I had to drink the elixir and it registered to make a new one after doing the experimental steps and then it worked. I think it did that to me on the prior portal. I had to drink it and then it went through the quest to make another and then offer it to the portal. My game ended up crashing and sent the error report for "Unable to innitialize Vulkan Swap Chain". I did as the instructions said and went back to non-experimental and now my game is "Normal" and not "Expedition". I put the game back to experimental in beta and the game still is set to "Normal" when I haven't finished the expedition and now I need to start all the way over. :(
Didn't have to start over, very luckily. I tried launching the game a few times with it just crashing immedieatly with the errors so verified the game and still crashed. Exited Steam and re-trried and it worked. The expedition quests are still showing so, fwew. I was done with the first three and am glad I don't have to go back through it.

Guys, if you're going through what I'm going through. Namely, you used the beta version, via the “3xperimental” code, and after that your save stopped loading because of the newer version - you need to download the NMSSaveEditor save editor from github. When you select the save you want in the first tab, go to EDIT => EDIT RAW JSON. You need to change the version from 4682 to 4679. After that you need to confirm the changes. Next, in the first tab, use the SAVE CHANGES button to change your save. Then you will be able to enter the game under your save.
Perform these actions at your own risk. I was lucky enough to have an older save, so I could look up the version number and compare both JSON files.
I also note that these version numbers are only relevant now. In the next patches or updates, it will not work.

I actually decided just to use NomNom to set all task values and then went into the game to claim the rewards. I normally like doing these expeditions but with the bugs on this one it just became far too much of a chore and felt like it wasn't worth trying to muddle through it anymore.

If anyone want to do the same, just the the guide above but set all values on the Phase 3, 4 and 5 tasks to the target value. Don't check Claimed for any of them. Then just go into the game and manually claim everything. I verified all rewards then show up at the quicksilver companion.

Hopefully the next expedition will be better. I'm sure it probably will! :)

Well I'm sorry to say it, but I'm doubtful my console brothers and sisters will be able to complete this, as their patches need additional approval by the respective party. (xbox or play station). Best case scenario we see an update pushed early this week, but I'd expect nothing over the course of the weekend. It's a real shame NMS broke this AND introduced content that brought new players (or returning players) into the game. The UTTER LACK OF COMMUNICATION is probably the worst, and it's hard not to spiral into thinking negatively about LIGHT NO FIRE.

so are they gonna fix this? doesn't the expedition end in like a day? Or do I really have to install some weird thing called "nom nom" just to get past portal 3?

Open Steam (or your respective game launcher).

1) Navigate to No Man’s Sky in your library.

2) Right-click the game and select Properties.

3) Go to the Betas tab.

4) In the beta access code field, enter: 3xperimental

5) Click Check Code, then select the experimental branch from the dropdown menu.

6) Allow the game to update, then launch it and complete the mission.

7) Once done, repeat the steps above and switch back to the normal version.

It worked!! But I messed up, somehow. I completed the mission in experimental mode and now I am unable to access my original save in normal mode. 😑
