Finaly deep water!
I can't be the only one who always wanted a deep water experience in no mans sky.

I don't even care about deep water creatures (although very cool of course)

But every ocean was so shallow that it never made me feel like I explore an ocean. It always felt like exploring the lake nearby and also was similarly uninteresting.

If they also managed to make it in a way that you need either underwater bases or an underwater vehicle to reach the deepest parts then I'm fully satisfied.

This update adds over half of the things that have been on my top-ten-most-wanted list for NMS. Better/deeper underwater experience being one of the big ones.

I'm waiting for the expedition to actually check out the new update, but I am quite excited.
This song probably describes the new oceans really well

I didn't read the patchnotes yet but I saw the trailer and Sean Murrays Video. I will just jump in with a new character and immerse myself.

If everything they said is true it can't take long to see some exciting new things.

I can't wait, I'm in the mega download right now.

Did they add anything meaningful to actually do in oceans or is it just cosmetic?

I don't actually know. Will find out once it's finished downloading.

But read the patchnotes. All the major changes will be there.

With the Deep Oceans it will FINALLY give a reason to build an underwater base.

There was no point in building one before because it always felt like you were building an underwater base in an inflatable kiddy pool.

As someone who absolutely loves Subnautica I was really wanting deeper oceans too, VERY happy to see this!

I've been to 3 planets now and I can see some minor changes but the oceans were still the old depth...

I've explored like 10 worlds with water in the new purple systems, so far the oceans have been as shallow as all others since the Next update. Hopefully the only-water worlds have actually deep oceans... But so far the update is disappointing considering they could have either returned the pre-Next generation or created entirely new one. New planets look flat, literally. Most of the surface looks very flat and boring.

Not all of it. There is a lot of great stuff. The gas giants(while not made of gas) are actually giant. Perhaps as big as our moon? still not as big as Light No Fire planet is going to be though. New animals and plants, new minerals and so on. Inventory sorting and lots of quality of life stuff. It's just after so many years of experience and time to work on this stuff I expected way more from Sean Murray(he said he worked on the new procedural genration himself) and after all this time we got literally flat planets and most of the oceans are still very shallow.

It's not really that surprising that not every ocean is going to be deep oceans in the game, with procedural generation and how many planets? It's a bit quick to say the game doesn't have deep oceans after only 3 or 10.
