Find my ship, in the beginning of the game
Hi,
How does one find the ship back if (s)he has no HUD or Radar to find it on?

Follow the tutorial - it prompts you to "fix" things installed in your multi-tool

I am wandering around and not finding my ship. The quest (? bottom right of the screen) says things like 'Uprade module acquired' and 'Starship restoration Sequence Initialised'

I wandered so far of the location of my ship I can't find it.
This item is required to "locate" any item including your ship

Yeah, as soon as you find your starship, the tutorial quest should have you loot a map from the nearby distress beacon.

Then, you use the map and it points out a location you are supposed to go to.

Then, you go to that location and you'll get a Hermetic Seal.

All that remains is to install the Analysis Visor and use the Hermetic Seal to build it. Once built, the default F key lets you look through it and you can find your ship using that.

Not to spoil things but if nothing is working the best thing you can do is move forward from the moment you have control. Don't turn left, right, nothing... just walk (or run) forward from your starting position.

This bug/problem exists since YEARS. After all this time... this has never improved or fixed. And tutorial is still not skippable. This is crazy. :/

The TUTORIAL can be disabled on ANY new game type by using the CUSTOM mode

You've mixed up the steps/parts

You can build/install the VISOR as soon as the game starts, requires 1 Carbon Nanotube (50 carbon)

You obtain the Hermetic Seal to finalize the REPAIR of your pulse drive

No, you repair the Scanner at the beginning, but yes, the Hermetic Seal is not used to make the Analysis Visor, but rather the tutorial asks you to build the Visor right after you get the Hermetic Seal even though it doesn't require the Seal.

The VISOR in NOT installed

No, you repair the Scanner which is the thing that pulses and highlights nearby o2/Na/H2.

The Analysis Visor, the thing that you scan with, is installed after finding the Hermetic Seal.

To be honest, I always thought it was confusing that you scan with the Analysis Visor, but the actual Scanner does not Scan nor do Scanning Mods apply to it lol.

Oh. And by using the "custom" playmode.. can I play the "normal" mode, with no tutorial, without affecting in any way the obtaining of achievements? Never tried that!

You can still earn the Survival/Permadeath achievements (w/no tutorial) so all the others should work fine too.

AFAIK, any of the Custom settings will not disable achievements, at least in Normal mode.

I always do Custom, if at least to turn off technology damage because of how BS that mechanic is. I also set creatures on Defensive-only because aggressive critters are so annoying and I just don't like dealing with the stupid things.
