Died on a mission from the anomaly
I died on a mission from the anomaly and lost my temper, so I had to shut down my computer to clean up the mess. When I restarted, The mission was gone, and I was way back in the anomaly in a completely different system. I think I found the system I died in in my discoveries list, but trying to set it as a way point doesn't seem to work? the galaxy map says there is a custom way point (blue line) but I have no idea if I'm even following it in the right direction, and I keep running out of Hyperdrive fuel. Is there another way to get back ot that system, or some way I can beg for hyperdrive fuel?

Unless the system did not have a station, you could use a teleporter. Finding your grave again may be really hard. I have not done it in awhile, but don't remember seeing any kind of icon from space. Depending on exactly where you died (space/planet), it may be a lost cause. Do you have an older back up of the save you could revert to?

I don't think sso on the older save, just tried to do that from the main menu, and there doesn't seem to be an option to load an older/automated save? it was on-planet.

Officially the game does not save during a anomaly mission. You get that toast "Game not saved during ...... "
But on a crash I did find myself closer than my very last save before the mission. But yes, mission did not "start". At least I did not loose my weekend event mission that day.

Yeah, you would need to make your own personal backups. Give me a sec...and I will post a nice little bat file you can use to make incremental backups of your save. It is easy to make...I am a novice...but works like a charm.

EASY SAVE BACKUP

Create a folder somewhere to backup your saves. In that folder create a text file and rename it "NMSBackup.bat". Open it in Notepad and copy the following text. Replace the part with "yourusernamehere" with whatever your windows username is.

echo off

set folder=%date:~10,4%_%date:~4,2%_%date:~7,2%_%time:~0,2%%time:~3,2%
set folder=%folder: =0%
mkdir %folder%

echo %folder% created

xcopy "C:\Users\yourusernamehere\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS" %folder% /E

Then create a shortcut to this and place it on your desktop (or wherever you want). Run it whenever you want to backup your save. It will create a folder with the current date and time with your save backed up.

This will not only create a backup, but you'll have time stamped backups you can always revert back if need be.

I should note someone else created the bat file. I have seen others that were a bit more complex, but this was in my wheelhouse as a newb when it comes to this kind of this.
Sorry, but that's what you get for throwing a tantrum over a death in a video game... you should really learn to keep control of your emotions.

----

The line in the galaxy map could be taking you clear across the entire galaxy, (potentially over a million light years away), so it's a waste of time following that path...

Did you go to the space station in the mission system? If not, then you wont be able to teleport there.

However, if you have the planet in your discoveries list, you can set the planet as a wonder, then view it on the wonders page to get the portal address...

If I remember correctly (it been a very long time since I've died in NMS), your grave is marked by a similar icon as an anomaly grave, but in a different colour, so it should be easy enough to find once you reach the right system.

erm.. not quite

When you are playing ANY mission from the Anomaly; YOUR POSITION/LOCATION is not saved. Everything else IS saved. If you exit the game while on one of these missions, you will load into the Anomaly and that's where the notification will tell you that you must complete Anomaly missions in "one go".

Normal Anomaly missions, if aborted, will fail and NOT be available to retry (unless a duplicate mission is cycled thru). If the mission reward was 400 QS, that mission is removed from your mission pool and the 400 QS is forfeited.

EXCEPT - The Weekend event, 1800 QS mission. If you fail/exit/die, you CAN replay that mission (within the time frame) so you do not lose access to your 1800 QS
If you do try to get back via the portal address from the wonders page you need to make sure you are in the same galaxy. Some anomaly missions will take you to Euclid, others will take you to a nearby system in whichever galaxy you summon the anomaly in.
The OP is struggling to craft hyperdrive fuel. Something tells me they are still in Euclid. Given that, I doubt providing glyphs will help either. ;)

However, that doesn't dismiss that adding a system to your Wonders is super handy (thanks @Jaggid Edje) and will provide EVERYTHING needed to travel there via a portal (glyphs & galaxy)
Yes, but newer players might not realise the significance of the galaxy, going by how many threads have there been about Starbirth. Which also provides EVERYTHING needed, it is usually the galaxy that is the issue not the cryptic glyph clues.

Yeah, cause everybody just googles the glyphs... and forgets that the message itself specifies Euclid in capital letters, 3 times!!

You are of course 100% correct :nmsatlas:

Apologies if my reply was off the mark, often times my form of satire/humor falls flat. Polo :nmsgek: has been helping me. Clearly I need additional lessons :steamhappy:

So what I'm hearing is I screwed myself, which is fair, but it might be possible to get to my grave? I tried adding the planet to the wonders page, but there's nothing about a portal that I see, so I guess it's just either plodding my way along, or forgetting about the stuff it sounds like.

Ok, so I do have some sort of portal address in glyphs, but no idea how to use it.

While looking at a planet in the Discoveries section, you hold "Z" to add it to your Wonders

Once in the Wonders section, you must select an empty spot and give it a name
