nope didn't work popped up with an error. it says windows10upgrade9252.exe is not a valid Win32 application

Nope, Win 10 is 64bit only.
That error means you have the 32-bit version of win 7 installed. If your PC is also only 32-bit, then you are going to need a whole new computer.

Actually, I think there was was a way, when I did my own conversion.
I did it from 32-bit Windows 7 to 64-bit Windows 10,
I first installed 64-bit Windows 7 (on a new clean main drive,
- edit - it was when I switched from HDD to SSD)
but using the same key than 32-bit Windows 7),
then converted to Windows 10.
But of course, like JDaremo noted, You need procesor, that supports 64-bit systems.

You really should not do an in place Win7 to Win10 upgrade. Too much legacy software and legacy binaries carry over and cause lots of issues.
A clean Win10 install is optimal.
That said, if you are still running Win7, you probably have a potatoe for a PC.
Its been 13 years since that O/S came out. Time to treat yourself to a new state of the art PC.

I'm on windows 8. getting in can be a challenge at times. also doesn't help that i have a GTX 960 with a 4th gen i5.

My Game runs fine 64 bit windows 7. But online features no longer work. And dear people go to linux and stop telling people to update to spyware 10 and spyware worse 11. Thanks. Hugs.

Sorry that didn't work I would check first to see if you are running a 32-bit or 64 bit cpu, but to be honest it sounds like your still on a 32-bit machine, so if possible ( money wise) I would strongly consider a BIG upgrade and like Saber1 said and try that, but don't forget to make a backup of all you stuff because I think you will need a clean install, sorry mate

I read an article yesterday that Windows 10 won't be supported by Steam either. You're going to have to upgrade to 11 or get a new computer.

Sorry. I just found the article. Windows 10 will still be use-able.

Saber1 is a user, his comment is above.

How to check? Search can be your friend :steamsunny:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/determine-whether-your-computer-is-running-a-32-bit-version-or-64-bit-version-of-the-windows-operating-system-aac162a1-0cb3-46f2-888f-2f22897396ce

If you open run, then type dxdiag, that will bring up a lot of your specs
