Rebel Star issue

Just started the Rebel Star missions and found the crashed ship, no problem. Now, there is nothing more I can do, apparently. Cannot reset, cannot find anything in Galaxy Map & cannot choose Current Mission, it's greyed out. There are no markers on any of the planets, or for the location of the destroyed freighter I was sent to fight the ships to continue. Does anyone have any ideas on how to proceed or should I just quit and re-roll & start everything all over?

Did you fight the corrupted sentinels that spawned after you activated the distress beacon at the crash?

You have to fight them, not run away, because defeating them gives the item you need for the next step. Using this item (from within your inventory) then reveals the next location you have to visit for the quest.

Check your inventory for the item if you haven't 'used' it already, it is called Rendezvous Beacon.

Yes, fought them. Got the beacon, read it, went to the freighter and fought the ships that showed, then nothing. Waited a few min, looked around the wreck, took the pods and fought the pirates that showed up after that, still nothing. Can't reset the mission, can't delete it, can't find anything to follow in the GM, can't choose Current Mission in the GM, stuck.

After fighting the pirates at the derelict freighter, you are supposed to use the scanner on your ship (for me, it's the C key, but not sure if that's the default or not). Using the scanner locates an observatory in the system, which is the next mission target.

Well, after not being able to find anything last night when I stopped and went to bed, I'll try just randomly scanning around each planet & see if I get lucky. Thank you for the help, and I'll let you know if I have to re-roll or not in a few minutes . .

Wow, that worked faster than I thought!! I left the Space station and scanned right outside of it and it picked up a signal immediately! All I got last night was a couple asteroid fields to mine from, which I didn't bother with. Thank you, Jaggid!
