No Man's Sky
RTX 4050 laptop question
Hey!

I'd like to buy a "gaming" laptop in the next month and No Man's Sky is one of those games I would like to play on it. Has anyone played this game on a laptop with an rtx 4050 and could tell me how it works? is 60 fps on high settings possible?

The 4050 laptop is more then capable of maintaining 60fps with Ultra settings at 1080p. The problem is the limitation of 6gb of vram. Some games have major issues with only 6gb vram and some just getting the game to run can be extremely frustrating. At least a 4060 mobile has 8gb vram so way less issues. So just a heads up.

I'd never get a 4050 mobile gpu myself as the hardware limitation kills it for me. I'd rather wait an extra month or 2 or whatever to save up for the added cost of getting a 4060 mobile gpu. And that's just the absolute minimum gpu i'd get. But ya money and time can dictate what you can get. And a 4050 mobile is still a pretty good gpu.

Temperatures and durability are the biggest problem with laptops, it's a very small device that needs to have space for a GPU and CPU that will be able to run No Man's Sky at 60 fps on ultra settings for example. Handhelds just like Steam Deck have a different character, worse components, but also lower temperatures, but I probably don't want to buy a handheld.

I have an Asus AMD Ryzen 7 laptop with a 4050 RTX and play on Ultra with Super Resolution enabled. Runs like a hot knife through butter.

So You can fry scrambled eggs on this laptop ;)
I haven't tried, but maybe!
