Atlas Sceptre Bug? - Mining Laser can be installed and then cannot be removed
I got the Atlas Sceptre Multitool from completing the Omega campaign. While installing modules on it, I noticed that the Mining Laser module was shown as available even though the sceptre already has the Runic Lens for mining. I installed it just to see what would happen, but it didn't seem to do anything, and now I can't dismantle it or package it to get rid of it, meaning it seems to be permanently wasting a slot. Is there a fix for this?

No clue on the "cannot remove" problem, but others have noticed that Runic Lens + mining laser + upgrades = absolute mining beast, that doesn't overheat, melts resources, and fills your inventory quickly.

technically speaking, the bug is that you can put the mining laser in the scepter... you should not be able to in the first place...

Oh, it stacks? That's actually nice.

Right after getting the Atlas Scepter during original Expedition, i installed the mining laser right next to the Runic laser and also did not notice any additional laser power (even though i have to admit, after maxing out the runic laser before noticing and installing mining laser unit, it was so overpowered in the first place, it would be hard to tell if the additional mining laser added anything...

However, i did not do an accurate "before" test before installing the mining laser. I should have turned on "floating damage number" before mowing down a forest of trees, then install the mining laser.

Also, i have not tried to see if, after i deplete the runic lens fuel progress bar, if then the mining laser gives reserve/ additional capacity.

I'm now curious to try...

(Also, if you have not finished the "redux" mission, do that first... I have not checked this but, if this is your second time doing this expedition, a second Scepter might already then be available for you to buy)...

If a second Scepter is not available to you...

I have not tried this [yet] so make a backup save of the NMS save folder "to desktop" (or wherever you have been archiving them) first...

To get rid of the "mining laser" unit... (you will need to have at least 2 multitools in your inventory)

- Go to the space anomaly. After you jump out of your ship, that will be your in game save to revert to if this does not work.

- Go to the rewards vendor and double check to see that the Scepter is available to you (it will probably be grayed out, possibly all the way down the list where all the other "already acquired" items are seen)

- Save all installed upgrade tech you have put into the Scepter into your Exosuit inventory

- Sell the Scepter at Mutitool scrapper

- Go back to Rewards Vendor and re-acquire the Atlas Scepter (which should be available now after you scrapped the old one).

- And this is why you made a desktop save... If after you scrapped the Scepter it's still not available to you at vendor, you will need to then jump in and out of your ship to create a new in game "manual save", then reload it from within the game... this should then make the Atlas Scepter again available too you (less the Mining laser of course)

This isn't the devastating mistake it used to be. Remember, you can run an expedition and claim another scepter there to get another thru the console. There's no longer a big risk of loss to most unique expedition rewards. You can even claim multiple versions of the same thing.
I have sort of the Same thing but with one of the Multitools you get from the Harmonics events, Looks like A shotgun with Pistons pulsing along the Barrel, the Hijacked Beam + Regular Mining Beam is Crazy, it burns it's charge out before it EVER overheats, beam is A Golden'ish color, kinda like a Bright lime or under ripe lemon.

it only uses the Hijacked beam though when it comes time to recharge which is also really slow to burn through, I pretty much don't have to worry about those aspects anymore with the combo, it's not exactly Game breaking, but I feel like it SHOULD overheat Faster but mine better with less charge expended to balance it out.
