Why there are ppl gifting things in space anomaly?
I always see those players gifting valuable items in stacks of 9999 and i send their goods back or delete them if they keep doing it. I'm new to this game and i want to enjoy this game with my friends without cheating.
They give me the same vibe as the cheaters in GTA V: Players that randomly drops you 999.999.999 of money and XP, ruining your game progression and risking your account to a ban.
Maybe its just me, but personally, i don't find that funny.

Sometimes they ARE cheaters who flood their own inventories with non-obtainable items or very-hard-to-get ones through questionable means (like save editing) and then drop them off to unsuspecting newbies or strangers. Sometimes it's veteran players with tons of resources to spare because they have accumulated all of that through many hours of playing and grinding/farming. I personally, for example, may occasionally drop off some valuable items from my resource farms or freighter expeditions to seemingly new/early players (standard player skins, normal mode icon near the name).

from my perspective:
especially in expeditions, when i finished, i stay for the rest of it. roam around and ask people if they need some ferrit for starters.
and am sure i gave people too much or untwanted items too. but many were thankful or gifted me something nice back.

see it as the little gift idols you can gift to npcs. "here is a little something, nice to meet you".
but i also got stacks of void eggs, which started the mission early and i hope that didnt bug things for later. when i can do that mission that is already active o-0
kept some, distributed some...

sometimes i extra look for the nms starter ship, search that person and try to find out, if they like a little help. imo some fear, i d gift them 10k something. but for that reason, i distribute small amounts.
even before the food update, i loved gifting some food. good for some nanite, a jetpack boost or just selling for a bit...

on expedition someone gave me a stack of qualia, while getting 50 was already slight hassle. so i found people that wanted to help distribute and gave them like 2k. and only 50 pieces to those who just started expedition.

--------------------
things to consider:
--------------------
-
even "creative" mode players, can play with normal mode players, afaik. and i can see that one might think gifting tons of "hard to get for others" items, is helpful.

- idk how far you are into the game. later, and with some time investment you can get miners, that collect 10.000s of something per day.
i really hope that most of the stuff gifted to me, is honestly earned. mine is for sure and am not that rich, nor can play as much as i want to.

- meeting a player that has setup bases and miners, has played countless hours, is like meeting a highl level player in another game. they might have some good leftover gear or smth..

--> a prevention trick: spllit stacks and fill up your inventory. imo not practical, but it works.
--> i d be so sad if there is an option to turn it off and everyone turns it off. it feels gifting is a big part of the game. but gifting a fortune, is just too much imo.
i want to spread my food among the masses !!!

I see someone doesn't know what "creative mode" does. You cannot spawn tons of any item you wish in creative mode like in Minecraft. In this game it simply allows you to build, repair, construct and use any items needed without actually having them in your inventory - it removes/autocompletes the requirements, sort of. You also never run out of oxygen, protection, shields, etc. Nevertheless, even creative mode isn't fully open and certain things have to be done manually.

I've never heard of receiving things being a ban offense, nor anyone getting banned for it. I know some people use it for a duplication glitch. Mostly it is being used as a gift for players to snag some easy units / nanites to help them along.
It's the same thing as back in the day playing City of Heroes. People would drop valuable inspirations and upgrades on you as a new character, knowing it took credits to buy all those upgrades you needed for all the powers you had. Just community helping each other.
In this game it might seem strange because it is easier to start earning units, but there are a lot of upgrades for your exosuit, multitool, ship, exocraft, etc. when starting out.
People being nice are not ruining your game for you. If you don't want it, just delete whatever they gave you. Simple.
No, you're not going to get banned for this. Unless there's some weird super-buggy broken item that can potentially ruin the game and affect the other online players (this is a hypothetical situation).

I gift a shield and 2 frigate modules, in perma death, now and then.
But yes, these mega gifts are game breaking, I tend to delete those.

If someone is *not* seated in the anomaly, then I interpret that as they do *not* want handouts.

Given that you can make an infinite amount of anything in this game via glitch... it seems entirely broken. Not sure why it has not been fixed? The game rapidly becomes pointless, with perhaps the minor unintended min-maxing minigame of seed burning your way to the non-random random die rolls you are looking for.

I gift stacks of 5 Herbal Crunchies because, hey, wouldn't it be great if people handed out edibles IRL?
Kobs Mar 9 @ 3:39pm
It comes down to "if you don't want it just delete it"... simple
But whining about it is soooo much more fun right loll

I see lots of peoples jumping around when they get stuff so it seems it's not that bad after all

Go to settings and change your game status to no multiplayer, solves that issue.
Some of them are making a misguided attempt to be nice, but most of them are just cheaters out to spoil people's games.

I no longer give items to people unless they ask because most of them either don't want them or don't deserve them.
There used to be an exploit for duping items using the personal refiner. It did involve as one step the gifting of the same items to another player. Not sure if they patched it out or not.

The glitch is still there, however... there is no step that requires gifting of anything.

Thanks to everyone for replying!

To be clear: I'm from Argentina (south america) and... well... we usually see a lot of cheaters in multiplayer games really often. It's nothing new in south america servers or channels.
So one of my fears was if someone could get banned if not delete those items.
And yeah, at least in my space anomalies it happens a LOT of times: people that floods your inventory with extremelly rare items in multiple stacks of 9999.

On the other hand, it's really nice when someone gives you a real gift, without cheats. Like someone that gifted me some salvaged datas. Another with a S-class ship core that pushed me to farm crashed ships and with that i got my first Solar. And a guy that gifted me some dishes, not very useful but felt very cute and started a nice chat.

woah. really?? i just sit to show am afk /sorting inventory n stuff.
tbh that s a great idea. to have a sign, but maybe a less common one.
or a place? a certain corner that the community calls trade-center or smth :)

i totally wish for a break in updates.
but in the future, we might get another floor in the anomalie. a leisure area :D cronus will move there. a place where people put their pets to play together (am thinking, this area is special programmed for pets to behave in a way.. ?!?)

for trade area: it would be cool to give console players a chance to ask for specific things somehow. i thought about having boxes and people just put, what they want to "dontate". but honestly.. there will be some "maxed out players", that fill up everything to the brim :D
