"Mission target in another galaxy" -- what galaxy?

Anyone know if it is possible to figure out exactly what galaxy a mission target is in? I'm still trying to track down my restored star system for In Stellar Multitudes and I was hoping this latest release would make that possible. However, when I try to route to the "current mission" target I get the error "Mission target in another galaxy". I have only visited two galaxies and I get that error in both. I'm hoping to avoid having to visit all 200+ galaxies.

iirc when you go to a portal the very first option on your upper left will be the nearest SS to your active quest. So before you look be sure and make the quest active. I just finished it for the 5th time and it worked fine. Am in experimental which should be the same as normal mode for the moment.
Do know that (for me anyway) the new system will not be purple. It will be tagged but it's black inside the tag, not the color of any system.
Hopefully you visited the SS at that last system or you may have to make a jump or two.

Sounds like a bug so you might also want to verify your files before reloading the game.

Yeah, I see the icon for the quest in the upper left teleport target, but then in the galaxy map I get that "mission target in another galaxy" error. Bummer. Good to know about the black vs purple.

Same issue here now, a frigate encountered something I have to check out by scanning something on a planet in their system so they can continue, but the portal nor the system is nowhere to be found. Neither choosing current mission in galaxy map or anything else, it just doesnt exist. I probably have to leave Euclid (by reaching center I heard), why the fk did the frigate fly out of Euclid!?
Honestly, Im so tired of this overrated developer who redeemed themselves but 2 years later started to do weird stuff to the game again, introducting more bugs with every feature, the list is FULL and yet he keeps adding stuff.

So, if you go to the Anamoly, go to the Portal Room,. and DL someones Base from the corresponding Galaxy needed. Some bases may fail to DL, try 3 times on each max imho. ( Usually its Eissentam or Euclid ) you now have access to it, without needed to get to any galaxy center. But usually that quest can be restarted ( thereby changing it to current galaxy)... I think, you'd have to check your log ofc.

i have same issue. i've been to over 20 galaxies now and still always same message. when i go to the nearest spacestation, as indicated by the portal, still tells me the target is in another galaxy. would really like it if the devs at least gave us a restart on the quest.

I always do the galaxy map. Get in my ship head out, check to ensure I'm on the right quest then open the galaxy map and go to the current mission. Always shows me a green line to the next system or the next system in the path. I just don't dig the portals all that much except for quick trips back to my freighter or base.

20 galaxies or 20 systems (probably within Euclid galaxy)? Visiting 20 galaxies is a much bigger deal and folks new to this game mis-define galaxies vs systems all the time.

galaxies. monolith to portal to center to all your stuff gets busted. i've gotten very good at the transition. game won't give me a marker. i take out all my frustrations on sentinals and pirates now, between galaxy jumps.
