For example, if i was hunting dreadnorts, i would also hunt A or S level frigates for my fleet...i might also;
check derelict freighter for S class freighter module
check the interceptor design in dissonant pirate sectors
The list goes on
It's nice to have extra of everything when you needed.
Do you have a freighter of your own already?
Pretty sure you need to have a freighter first.
@Morcar, If you do not yet have a regular freighter, do that first.
But I jumped to systems around the one which I found and eventually found a 2nd one. Now I can jump back and forth between those two systems and they always show again. What I do not know is though, how many jumps I made until I found those two systems. Back then I did not know about the 5-jump-rule (if there is one to begin with).
Never tried it to only jump to pirate systems though but that is not necessary to find a pirate freighter.
Portal jumps dont count.
portal and freighter jumps dont count and i beleive like stated before you already need to have a freighter already.?.
You can find many more than 1 per 5 jumps and 3 hrs if you keep searching.
Focus on pirate systems (or at least hostile systems) and you'll find lots of permanent spawn points too; they will spawn a dreadnought literally every time you warp into the system (and I mean warp, not teleport)
When hunting for an S class dreadnought, I prefer to have at least two permanent spawns close together so I can jump between them after each fight rather than reload... this way you can earn yourself a decent chunk of units, nanites, and rep with the dominant races of the systems. (I like to find one for each race so I can easily raise my rep for all of them)
It's also handy for getting S class fleet tech for your freighter.
Dreadnaught battle only appear in certain pirate systems. A system that spawns a dreadnaught battle was all always spawn one when you jump in.
I was recently hoping pirate systems looking for a particular style freighter, I think dreadnaughts spawned in about 1 in 5 systems. Once I found the freighter I wanted I farmed the system until it spawned an S class freighter. The odds of an S class are 1 in 20.
Although I gave up after a day of trying to get an s-class jumping back and forth between those two. It was getting so insanely boring and repetitious that I just took out the engines and anti freighter cannons to make the fight end faster.
They have a higher chance to trigger in hostile systems, and all pirate systems are hostile...
Also, not all pirate systems will be permanent spawn points... I've heard it suggested that the ones triggered by the 5 jump + 3hr requirement will never be permanent, but any others will be, but I can't confirm if that's true... I just know that some are permanent and some aren't.
Pirate systems have the best chance of an S class (5%), but they also have the highest chance for C class (85%)
If you're happy with an A class, then 3-star economies are your best bet though (only 2% for S, but 28% for A)
1) Warp to pirate system (best chance).
2) When you finally come upon a freighter battle, take out the dreadnaught's warp engines, then hammer it until it surrenders.
3) Land in it, scan. If it's not an S-Class, warp to a nearby system, then warp right back and re-start the battle.
4) Repeat until you get the desired S-Class.
It took me about ten battles to get an S-Class, and I have no idea if this still works. Good luck!
