The freighter hangar unchangeable color

So it seems no matter how you paint the freighter, the outside color of the freighter hangar area will stay original, which sort of defeats the purpose of paint customization - whats the point of painting your ship black when you will always have the bright yellow eyesore to remind you of original? From what i understand it has been an issue for some time now and that needs changing...

There are mods to change the colors that are pretty good. Also ones for true black and true white. Might try them and see if it meets your approval :)

I'm usually restrained about using mods in online games (tends to get you banned;)). But also it seems like something that would be real easy for the devs to fix. I really see no reason why they have not done so in the past few years of people noticing it...

you won't get banned for using mods in NMS, so it's just a personal choice whether to use them or not

"Finding the right class of freighter, with the right model, in the right color" is a similar hunt to "finding a fighter in the right style, with the right wings, with the right nose, in the right colors". People have devoted months to finding "the perfect ship"; it's not going away any time soon.

It's just an oversight from the devs. Your best bet would be to submit a ticket at Hello Games official website; you can find a link to their "Help Center" at the bottom.

Speaking as the author of the above post, I'll mention that I've been having trouble with CAPTCHAs lately... from what I have been able to determine, my mouse movements are too efficient, or something... clicking the traffic lights, bicycles, crosswalks, etc doesn't actually tell the server I'm a human.

Since you've now declared my comment to be AI-sourced (or similar)... I'm beginning to have some concerns.

the only problem with capital ship hunting right now is that you lose any upgrades in your freighter so you have to take them all out and stop running fleet expeditions while you're hunting for a new one

This is why ship painting/customization will be a bust if they ever actually add it. There will be secondary colors or parts like wing-lets or engines that will be left un-paintable. Little details like that is what ruins the whole experience.
