"To Live Forever" and "Take A Deep Breath" guide
Here's my short guide how to get these rarest achievements. You unlock both at the same time when you reach Galactic Center in Permadeath Survival (To Live Forever)

(I'm going to assume you know the basics of the game and won't die in 2 mins from exposure.)

You don't need to waste your time getting a freighter and jump through unnecessary hoops. This method will work and takes only 3-4 hours.

1. Mine everything you see. You'll need it later.
2. When you get a scanner, try to scan all the animals for nanites. You'll need it later.
3. Do everything the game tells you (base building etc...)
4. Immediately start doing the Artemis/Apollo quest line when you can and keep doing it until you get the Exocraft recipe.
5. Buy the Scanner upgrades for Exocraft on Space Anomaly
6. Find a Traveller aboard the Space Station and go get your first glyph (it's all you need)
7. Use Exocraft Scanner to locate an Alien Monolith.
8. Complete the Monolith test. After that, use the Monolith again and find a Portal.

(Note: To find the Portal with the Monolith, you might need a Korvax casing, Vy'Keen Dagger or Gek Relic. Scan a Trade Outpost with your Exocraft and buy one there.)

9. Get to the Portal and insert your glyph 12 times. Yes, same glyph 12 times.
10. Enter the Portal. You're now on a planet that's 5~ mins away from Galaxy Center.
11. Upgrade your Spaceship Drive so you can jump further and faster.

After a few minutes of jumps, you're done. Just avoid aggressive wild life, angry sentinel planets or from falling off a cliff and you're in no risk of dying.

If you have any questions, ask. :)

sorry, can u tell me exactly how I do this?
I scan for "Alien buildings" to find a Alien monolith, right? A lot of looking around, right?
How do I find a Portal then?

After you find a monolith interact with it successfully and it will give you a reward. Interact with it again to ask for the portal location.

Yes, exactly as Prosik said. Also, if you fail the Monolith test, just reload your last auto save (when you exited your spaceship) and do it again.

You will also need a Vy'keen Dagger, Gek Relic or Korvax Casing to get the portal location. Find a trade outpost with your Exocraft Scanner and buy one there.

Isn't it the base computer quest that gives you the exocraft, not the artemis quest? I like your idea of the black holes rather than 200 or so jumps. Will try that.

Since we're in a necro-ing mood... I fixed it for ya...

Both Gek and Korvax GIVE you the required item upon successfully answering the question, therefore nothing needs to be purchased for those two races.
I wanted to add a little bit of info since the Worlds II update changed some things. The update introduced new purple star systems along with the new Atlantid warp drive that you get by completing the "In Stellar Multitudes" quest line.

When I was doing my permadeath run, the last system I needed to reach before the core was a purple star system (seems to be on purpose to prevent portal jumpers, or I may have gotten unlucky).

If you get stuck at the final star system, all you need to do is warp to other star systems that are adjacent to the galaxy core until you find one that allows you to warp directly to the core. no need to backtrack and get the new drive.

Hope this helps!

Actually, I think you got lucky to find one that does work. I've been warping around for a few hours, but everywhere I try, I get to a dead end where the next star in the route is purple. It appears they've made almost every star close enough to warp to the center a purple star. "Close enough" seems to be LESS than 3000 LY, as I did find a yellow at about 3005 LY, but still not good enough.

If anyone has some tips about finding a yellow star within range, I'd love to hear them.

Can you go into the expedition with a permadeath save? Seems that completing the expedition (and bringing the ship you get that has an Atlandid drive back with you) would be much faster than doing all the quests needed to get the drive regular. Of course, if you're reading this after the expedition is finished, that won't be an option.
