Milestone Bottled Lightning
Hey guys, I've been two galaxies, one green and one blue and still can't find Crystals, even on planets with storms. Any tips?

Go to a space station at an expedition RV . Check list of player bases at teleporter and pick one named 'storm crystals'.

What you are looking for is planets with activated Copper/Cadmium/Emeril/Indium.
Those have extreme storms and almost always storm crystals.

Rendezvous 3 had a toxic planet with storm crystals and a 7.5 meter creature iirc.

Looking for 7.5 meter myself, there is one R3 ?!

Planets with 'activated' elements are storm planets with crystals (usually)
I've been to like 30 systems and never found a single storm planet, wtf is going on? Did they ♥♥♥♥ up worldgen? I shouldn't be forced to use player bases.

You aren't forced...finding one on your own can just take a lot of time as you have discovered. There are no extra points for finding one on your own.

It's stupid and grindy. You can't even pin the recipe to find storm planets. I swear it wasn't this bad in the main game.

I built a series of 8 bases, 3 in the starting system, and together they have a complete range of all common resources, so one can leave the starting system quickly and wealthy, ready to buy a decent long range ship or freighter if desired:

When you warp out from the starting system, just head to my base on the hot planet in Obeokay system, plenty of storm xtals and other resources in one place. There are also other bases that have other resources in one spot, and all are in nearby systems (1 unupgraded jump away):
(*) Obeokay system: Base resources, 1 planet: Storm Crystals, P, Co, Su, So, Cu+, Portal
(*) Hikomo system: Base resources, 2 planets:
  • Planet 1 Base Resources: Dioxite, Fe++, Cu, Radon, Larval Cores, Portal
  • Planet 2 Base Resources: Pyrite, Sulphurine, Silver, Cu+, Drop Pod, Portal
(*) Antanoji system: Base resources, 1 planet: Emeril, Fe++, Rusted Metal, Portal
(*) Ginash system (pirate): Base resources , 1 planet: Indium, Gold, Silver, O2, Portal

Way to not read the thread at all.

In the system just before the 2nd rendezvous there is a volcanic planet with "activated" minerals and frequent storms. Lots of storm crystals there.

It has all the information you need.
Then again you have to be able to read and spare the 05 minutes of your time.
Would have been way quicker than you visiting the wrong 30 systems and 120+ planets.
Bit like saying "I visited 30 hardware stores and couldn't find a single lemon. Cry. Cry. Pay attention to me, I'm the almighty customer.".

Rendezvous 2 & 5 both have planets with storm crystals.

Edit: You can find just about every milestone by simply moving towards the next rendezvous system. The only added grind to the first few expeditions is that the distance between rendezvous systems is 10 jumps instead of 5 or 6.

I just got to Rendezvous 5 last night and didn't see a single storm planet

Most players will want the engine upgrades before R2 or R5 though. Since Storm Xtals are needed to get the blueprints for free, it suggests the first warp to another star system should be to one with a storm crystal planet ... to meet most people's needs while not delaying any other milestones in the expedition, such as the nanite hoard milestone.
