Do my shields recharge any more?
So the new enemies are crazy OPed. Same crap AI just uber-powered guns and instant charging shields. Even though ship combat is ALWAYS 2+ vs me (even in high secure space)
I can usually take 1 or 2 before having to bug out and get more sodium to charge up my shields. Beccause no matter how much I evade the shields will never recharge and since we don't have the ship battery blueprint the on;y option is Sodium (or nitrate). Even the in game pop up says they should recharge if I avoid getting hit, but they don't.

Is this a bug?

And where are the normal enemies? I will even take hard core ones just not ones that drop my shields in 2 hits but take a full volley from my balista to drop thier's, then 2 seconds later fully charge.

I started a discussion in the gameplay subforum about this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/4/5706632550008396563/

My experience so far is that you MUST use Phase Beam if you don't want to spend a bunch of sodium/starshield batteries on space combat. Especially because enemies will use Phase Beams on YOU.

The automatic recharge takes a loooong time.

The current issue is that pirates used to drop a shield recharge when destroyed, so you had full shields after defeating each ship.
That is not the case anymore

Pirates drop loads of shield batteries when you destroy them. Sometimes like 4 from a single kill. I went into a 1v6 fight against pirates in my starter ship with no upgrades and flew away at full shields with a bunch of extra batteries ready to go for the next fight.

Why don't you have the blueprint? I don't remember hearing about it missing from the anomaly.

FYI - if you press "s", you'll auto-lock on the nearest enemy and persuse them. If you are having difficulty targeting them.

Weird, I've taken the starter ship, and I've shot down 4+ ships at once before.

Are you using the Rocket Launcher, or are you paffing about with the Photon Cannon? Are you one of those speedrunners who insist that it's best to decon the Rocket Launcher for 200 copper at the beginning of the game? Might want to stop doing that.

Usually, you want a weapon to strip shields off, then switch to either a Rocket Launcher or an Infra Knife to finish the job when their shields are gone. Rockets are a good one shot kill in most situations, while the Infra Knife is better if your timing/aim sucks.

Either way, they want to make shields actually more important, and give enemies an actual challenge, though ... I still find them rather easy.

Boy, they really need to nerf/change what they did with this update.
Good grief.
I'm starting to worry about playing this game again.

It's also nearly impossible to ever hit things with the rocket launcher at all.
I know this for a fact. I literally can't hit anything with it.

ALos, giving enemies shields in this game makes no sense at all. Breaks the balance completely.

The pirates really need to be more balanced.

Don't worry.

It's not as bad as the OP lets on.

I regularly take on 3-4 pirates with the starter ship (which is the absolute worst ship in the game, stat-wise) and I do just fine.

Occasionally I'll take one or two points of critical damage but I'll come out of it long before there's any danger of crashing.

Try making sure the enemy is in your reticule when you push the button. The rockets home in on their target. The only way you can possibly miss is if the ship is 10 feet in front of you and flying off to the side.

Enemies without shields made them one-shot kills, they were far too easy.

The pirates really need to be more balanced.

Balanced != so easy you can't possibly lose.

I always delete the rockets to make more room in my inventory. You can easily take down everything with the photon cannon.
Just fly backwards and keep firing, it still works.

Alright. THat's good to know. I'm decent with the photon cannon and phase beam weapon.
Very glad the run backwards trick works.

Rocket Launcher does not home in at all. Unless they changed it very recently.
It is hot garbage and it doesn't hit anything.

Also, no pirate can be killed in one hit with any weapon other than the Rocket Launcher, so it makes no sense to give them super shields that break the game balance.

If you're good enough to do that, then okay.

But people like the OP are being told to delete the rockets and now they're getting shot down because they lack a good weapon to use on unshielded ships, lol.

Before this update, ALL ships were one-shot kills with the rocket launcher. I would literally stop to 0 u/s and just sit there, one shot... kill. wait 5 seconds, one shot... kill. until all the pirates were dead in <30 seconds. There was no fun in that, whatsoever. And this was with the starter ship with zero upgrades.

I'm very confused now.
Despite the fact that the Rocket Launcher can't hit anything, seriously, it really cannot hit anything, no matter what you try. You can claim it homes in, but I never saw it home in in all the time it's been in the game. IT flat out misses everything I am it at. EVERY SIGNLE TIME EVER WITh 3 exceptions.

The rest of the weapons work just fine.

Seriously, stop bringing up the rocket Launcher!
NO one can use it at all. IT does not aim like you claim!
AGHHHH.

There was no need to buff pirates when no one can ever use that rocket launcher to hit anything.
IT misses 99% of the time.

Okay fine, gimme like 10ish minutes. I'll load my save and go kill some pirates with the rocket launcher.

You can't get shot down in this game... you can recharge your shields indefinitely as long as you have sodium.

Look. Unless they changed the rocket launcher with this update to give it homing, it literlaly will never hit anything.
I HAVE LITERALLY TRIED For over an hour to use that rocket launcher on ships OVER THE LAST 3 years of playing this game.

I have literally had it hit 3 targets in total, after using it hundreds of times! That is not a joke. From way far away, I have hit literally 3 ships out of firing it over a hundred times in total.

THis is why it makes no sense to give pirates shields. All that does it break the game balance forever.

Literally no one ever uses the rocket launcher, because it is garbage and it only hits things very very rarely.
EVeryone knows this.
No one can ever claim it's a good weapon.
Literally everyone knows it's a garbage weapon.

You are the only person who claims the Rocket Launcher is good on the entire internet!
That is not even an exaggeration. :P I wish I was joking, but I'm not.
