Experimental Branch 11/9
Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

Experimental Branch 11/9

  • Fixed an issue that could reset corvette orientation after loading a save.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the phase beam to shoot the back of the corvette's own cockpit while flying in first person.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the handles on the Ambassador corvette cockpit from working in VR.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the corvette ramp to load in a closed state if the player save/loaded while stood on the ramp.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the camera to be misaligned when moving from first-person on foot to first-person corvette piloting.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from toggling free placement mode while editing a corvette.

  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause a copy of the Initialise screen to appear briefly during the starfield load.

  • Fixed a number of audio issues in asteroid belts.
  • Softened some UI audio.
  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause the tractor beam to be too loud.

  • Fixed an issue with cloud rendering on AMD GPUs.
  • Introduced a number of small visual improvements to cloud rendering.

  • Introduced a number of optimisations to volumetric fog.

  • Fixed a crash related to building a corvette.

  • Fixed a physic crash that could occur while closing the game.
  • Fixed a crash related to frigate networking.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here on PC: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\ and here on mac: ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Do not worry, this is not about walking on a circular loop of flat grounds making you stand upside down, a dev actually featured a clip with this creative gravity design :D

I believe they actually made that fix so it can happen properly and be more stable
Is there gonna be a fix for people like me with lower-end hardware like Intel Iris Xe Integrated Graphics?
I can't even load into the game because of this update, I was able to play it just fine prior to it
Bug Report: When you discover a Knowledge Stone it still shows up on compass and scanner.
please fix the 970 driver crash today. i don't want to wait until next week to play the game

Lot of people suggest not using the truck, but the truck is a lot of fun <3
Is this experimental branch going live, or has it been pulled. Steam app is not updating (I am on the experimental branch).

Unfortunately nothing changed for me. Most of my salvage missions still go up to the point when the terminal says mission complete, I turn them in and they don't give any rewards, stay in the log and the objectives go back to some earlier stage. In the terminal if they are not replaced the terminal shows "mission in progress" again.
Howdy - long long time player (since PS4 launch days). Came here to see if anyone else was having the weird gravity bug... basically walking on any sloped surface (causes that to set your gravity to whatever angle its at. It's extremely ****ed! So glad to hear its getting fixed.

(I tried it out on my PS5 and an older save on my Switch 2 and found it was definitely 7.0 onwards and not mods as I worried)

Can't even use my freighter right now, the bridge room thing is all fudged up!

Edit: Just gave it a whirl and yep, works exactly as before where walking on sloping surfaces doesn't change your direction of gravity Mario Galaxy style. Phew! Relief!
