Having the AI Mech fully upgraded was the only way I found I could get past the various waves in a timely manner. Those stupid repair bots really increase the challenge. I focused on them and let the Mech do most of the heavy lifting on the other combatants.
Not sure if my experience rings true, but it is what seems to be going on. The other change (if I remember right) is now you have to grab the walker brain from the carcass. You just don't shoot that part and reveal it like before. With all the crap that ends up littering the landscape and bomb holes, it was not particularly obvious to me what I needed to do the first time.
Yeah I've seen them. I'm curious if the OP's other mech looks like this.
The other thing u need is to be on the right kind of planet. Needs to have 'ever present" or similar sentinels otherwise they're pretty chilled out (which is great for normal play but not sentinel bashing).
I have certain planets I got to for that. U can also build sentinel traps.
