If all you want to do is scrap it, you can simply have a base with working teleporter, summon the broken ship, hop in it to make it your primary (might want to disassemble any techs you're allowed to), and then use the teleporter to go to the space station.
Similar to the space station marker in the radar.
You don't need to go back to it though, it sort of follows you in the ether of the save. Later you can see it again in the freighter, switch to it at the Anomaly, etc... If it's got thruster and pulse drive working you can summon it to you anywhere on a planet surface.
Not automatically... Or you can pack it and then store the upgrade in the suit to install on another ship later. Works as long as the upgrade is not broken.
Eh? When you scrap a ship, it calculates scrap value based upon EMPTY slots (not damaged or filled with a tech).
When the ship is scrapped, you will get the stated value in random items (trade goods, and random chromatic metals) plus 2 or 3 random starship mods of the same class as the ship you scrapped (pretty sure these are always mobility or defense but never weapon mods unless they changed that in 4.0), along with the possibility of a starship inventory upgrade item.
So, if you disassemble a tech found on a crashed ship BEFORE scrapping it, you will get the disassemble rewards (usually including a wiring loom among other things), but the scrap value will be increased because that's +1 empty slot.
You're absolutely right! It would not let me land the trashed ship but it did make it my default. One teleport trip and it was right there, ready to be scrapped. Thanks!
Glad to hear it worked!
In the future, it's always a good rule to repair the launch thrusters and the pulse engine (at least until you get a freighter) that way you can summon the ship. Or, just do what you did or use the Anomaly if you have access to that.
Either/or.
